Introduce Yourself : Proof of Concept (PoC) by Matthew Terry

Matthew Terry A proof of concept is like a micro-budget short film that a filmmaker makes which: #1) Shows production companies, investors, studios, etc. what the movie's premiere is, #2) Shows what the feature-length film will look like/the tone of the feature-length movie, #3) Highlights the important elements of the movie, and #4) Showcases what the filmmaker's production team can do/their skills.

Sometimes a proof of concept is just a scene. I don't think I've heard of any screenwriters using proof of concepts to pitch their scripts.

Maurice - Should I as a screenwriter, write a PoC, which is of course edited from my existing scripts?

Matthew Terry A PoC isn't something you write. It's a short film or scene. Or did I misunderstand your question?

I misunderstood. From my reading it looks like a written PoC was needed as part of a screenplay package pitch, hence the PoC script needed to be edited from an existing screenplay. I'm still in the learning phase of all this. Thanks

I haven't heard of a PoC script, Matthew Terry. Sorry that I can't help. Maybe someone else will be able to answer your question.

I've completed 11 so far. I asked these questions about PoC because a production company is showing interest in one of my screenplays and the rep kept referring to this PoC thing.

For the most part, yes. I just need to figure out what parts of my screenplays need to be used to create a PoC.
