Greetings from Frankfurt,Germany where I, Jeffrey Allan Coulas, an Ex Pat American, have been performing in German since 1995. Although classically trained for the stage, since my uni days I have performed in business theater, dinner theater, stage, musicals, commercials, photo layouts, short films and I also have one infamous international film under my belt, the amazing IRON SKY in which I played a Brit. My classically trained lyric tenor voice can and has sung almost every musical style except hard rock. Since 2005 I have been a major player with a Frankfurt based, interactive improve ensemble called Citygames. We perform crime shows usually in German but sometimes also my English translations as well. Literary translator has been a sideline. After a long hiatus I have resumed work on a singing project for You Tube, entitled Retrotenor: here is a sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4LUb98q5EA
Below or somewhere is a small video with song, celebrating my birthday a few weeks ago. Sing-a-long with me. Und das ist alles...But remember CARPE DIEM!!
How delightful. Good for you. Keep doing what you're doing.
(By the way, do you know any distributors in Germany?)
Dear Katheryn, Thank you very kindly for you feed back. First to a response. Unfortunately I do not know distributors here; they are on the other end of the food chain, a different mafia from we performers. Although I know of one production co, here in Ffm and a good commercial agency as well, the Big Guns are in Berlin because of Babelsberg Studios or Munich for Bavaria Studios. A lot of TV work is also produced in Hamburg and Duesseldorf as well. BUT closer to home, I know there is a rather constant German presence in LA ,ex- pat movie makers. And now on to the personal.
I know where Casa Grande is....my grandfather once owned a cotton ranch outside of Marana, which I would visit as a child because I am originally from Tucson. I still have relatives there. Yes, I am originally a Tucson Buckeroo. I love that place and those glorious mountains esp in winter. I also truly respect RESEARCH. Historical Fiction is a favorite genre of mine. I go berserk when I encounter a badly researched piece of history. I have studied history all my life for different reasons. I wish you all kinds of good fortune, dear lady. Blessings. JAC.
Dear Pamela, how very sweet of you. Thank you very much. I wish you the same. On that movie, "Iron Sky" I became pals with the main screenwriter after I ended up in the trailer, saying something quite witty. Later after the premiere I went up to him and confessed, "I adlibbed that. Mea Culpa!" He complimented me on my creativity. Actors with experience in Improv are dangerous. All the best to you too.
Yes, I knew distributors were people you wouldn't interact with, but asked. I was talking TV distributors. Though you might know someone who knew someone, etc. I am going to Marana tomorrow. We are building a first-century village for filming here in Casa Grande and there is an earth-building village there now. The cheapest method would be bags filled with earth (which is free) and covered with stucco. Let me know whenever you come back for another visit. We'll show you our filming village.
That sounds utterly amazing. I wish you great success. And wear your hat!!!
