Introduce Yourself : Yabeh yabeh by Yabeh Yabeh

Yabeh yabeh

My name is Yabeh Yabeh. I’m a screenwriter and storyteller, originally from East Africa.

I was born into a family of farmers, where life was simple, but stories were rich. My grandmother was a storyteller, and through her voice I first discovered the power of imagination. At night, she would share ancient and forgotten tales — stories carried across generations, stories that lived long before books or screens.

She told me legends like Layla and Majnun, stories of love that could outlive time itself. She shared mysterious tales that would later inspire my work, including what became “Curse Blue Moon Pharaoh” — a mythological journey shaped by ancestral imagination — and the urban legend behind “East Africa Kraken: Devil Island – The Kingdom of King Jinn,” a story rooted in fear, mystery, and the unknown.

Those moments shaped who I am.

Today, I write to bring those stories back to life — not just as memories, but as films, TV series, and animated worlds that global audiences can experience. My work focuses on myth, romance, fantasy, and adventure, blending cultural storytelling with cinematic vision.

My dream is simple but powerful: To tell every story that was once told to me — and share it with the world through movies and television.

I believe stories are never truly lost. They are just waiting for someone to remember them.

I’m excited to connect, learn, and grow with this community.

Thank you

Timothy Miller

What an incredible mission! There is something so special about reviving ancestral stories on screen. I really admire what you're doing and would love to connect. Keep up the great work and stay focused—with that kind of momentum, there's no stopping you!

I also grew up in a rural agricultural community with a unique oral tales and storytellers—my grannie being a particularly excellent one. Layla and Majnun sounds.like a great story. Nice to know you, Yabeh Yabeh.

Hey Yabeh Yabeh! This is beautiful. Your grandmother's voice and those ancient tales are a gift. The world needs more of that. What's one specific story she told you that you're most desperate to turn into a film or series?

Wow, what a lovely introduction, Yabeh Yabeh! Beautifully written! Do you also write novels or short stories? I bet you'd be great at that, too! What project are you working on right now? How can we help?

As for me, last year I launched my Off Duty, Thanks! brand (www.offdutythanks.shop - I just made new apparel for Mother's Day!) and this year I'm focusing on publishing my #StoryMath YouTube channel and book. It's not ready yet, but here is the channel if you'd like to start following ahead of our launch: https://www.youtube.com/@storymath.online

Otherwise, I spend most of my time in the Stage 32 Writers' Room, so if ever you need accountability or more regular activities throughout the week to keep your projects moving forward, feel free to join me there! I host a guided script exchange on Mondays (6pm PST) and Thursdays (12:30pm PST) which could be super helpful as you revise any of your scripts. For more info, you can drop me or Geoff an email at WritersRoom@stage32.com Cheers!
