I like to use my own imagination, Deryc. No program will ever be better than that. Based on other threads on here, however, those who have used some of the available programs out there have been mostly disappointed.
Hi Deryc My advice would be to people watch, make yourself aware of your surroundings all the time, watch what people do and make up stories for them in your head. For instance if you see a guy leaning against a lamp post looking at his watch, make up a story as to, who is he waiting for? Where does he have to be by a certain time? Just practice doing things like that, listen very carefully to what people say to you, sometimes a word or phrase can spark inspiration. Be aware of your own thoughts as well and also... just write and see where your imagination takes you. I write lyrics and songs and these are the processes I use, the same can be applied for character and plot development. The musical Miss Saigon was written after the composers saw a Vietnamese woman standing with her son in a street, so anything can be born from anything. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
The most important software I believe, is one we already have Deryc, our minds. This wonderful thing we're born with... it allows me to get "lost" for hours in a world that I created, and the best thing is... it doesn't cost a dime.
Trust me there's a great deal of ideas in my head and I am working on fleshing out my characters. I just want to be able to write down ideas on the fly as I won't have a computer on me at all times
