Title: Link the Second: Origins.

Chapter 1: Post-Mortem Goodbyes.

The date, August 28, year: unknown.

In the dark alleyway of Compton, California, lay a child, held by a futuristic orb, a slick, futuristic humanoid AI — long — lanky and robot-like, understanding what had happened hours earlier. A few hours earlier,a divine light had appeared in the alleyway; a woman's voice emerged from the light, and she appeared, holding a glowing baby with elf ears—a baby possessing both mortal blood and divine spirit.

The woman spoke to the orb "Hello, my name is...it's irrelevant,” she muttered to the AI. I am a goddess of power, but I trust you, one of the best orbs in the business... of protection and power, with my child — to feed him, protect him, and raise him to know right from wrong, everything to make him have a great life. His father...is deceased; I can't take care of him; I have to deal with an evil power, one that could destroy everything."

The orb struggled to keep a stern look, fighting the itch to smoke — his own mask slipping, while the child looked so innocent in the alleyway, while the orb spoke low and unsure, "Look, you need to keep your...child safe, and you need to decide now".

As the woman, now tearing up at the sight of her newborn, sensed her grief, the baby giggled, trying to make his mother laugh, barely able to hold herself in the alleyway. As she spoke softly unto her child with tears in her eyes, "I'm sorry little one, I must leave you here, your... father is very proud of your existence, but if he were here right now, he would love and protect you to death, This orb over here will watch over and protect you". As the goddess pointed to the AI, now activated, its abilities to copy the goddess's voice and replicate it. "Your name… ‌ is Link. Link, The Second".

She trembled, lips brushing his forehead — and for one trembling second, she almost turned back. Almost. Leaving a paper that had the baby's name on it, "Link The Second". The baby cried for its mother.

The orb held the baby like a mother would, replicating the goddess’s voice as it softly sang You Are My Sunshine. Link II fell asleep in its arms. The orb stared at his stolen Walmart name tag — Samuel.

They found food, shelter, and quiet. For now, the chaos of Compton stayed outside, buried under years of violence that would introduce them to the snow that was the city of Compton.

Samuel lit a joint, guilt swirling with the smoke. He’d never taken care of anyone but himself, but now, rethinking‌ it, he really needed to fix his life. High and delirious, he stared at the nametag in shame, and how he beat the hell out of that store manager to get his name tag… then passed out on the couch, slipping into restless sleep, as he dreamt about how much he fucked up his life when he took pot due to peer pressure — where now he's fully hooked on weed.

This is incredible, Vicente Elido Ramirez Diaz! The chapter hooked me right away. I like the mix of urban life, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi, and the orb feels like a flawed, complex human.
