Anything Goes : Books to film by Wesley Tallant

Books to film

I have several books and short stories that have been published, two of which people have said needs to be in Hollywood. How is the best way to get a movie producer to look at one of my books and consider it for movie production?

Beth Fox Heisinger

Hi Wesley. Do your books have a large fan base? Are there any numbers you could perhaps present to a producer? Books that climb up the best sellers lists and stay there for a while tend to attract filmmakers. If that's not the case, perhaps you could adapt the book yourself, or work with a screenwriter, and try to promote it as a screenplay to various producers.

Unfortunately, they have not sold very good. I have just changed publishers and they are in limbo at the time waiting to get back on the market. Why I can't get one of the big traditional publishers I don't know. They have all gotten good reviews. But, my two children stories should be back out by the middle of this month and anybody wanting to check my books out, I can send copies of the manuscript to.

That sounds frustrating, Wesley. However, keep fighting the good fight. If your books have received good reviews then perhaps you can use those as leverage. :) I saw that you also posted in the screenwriter's section. Good. You should receive more feedback. Best to you!
