Final Draft troubleshooting question - how to remove automatic (CONT'D)s?

Hi all, So I'm trying out Final Draft and am finding out that, even if I go back and delete the (CONT'D)s that FD automatically inserts after a block of action where the same character continues talking, the (CONT'D) re-appears. I tried to de-select some formatting options in both Formatting Assistant and Tools/Options, but to no avail. Is there a workaround that anyone knows about to suppress this (unwanted) feature? Thanks ahead. Michelle

From the Final Draft web site: "To remove the character continueds, go to Document > Mores and Continueds and uncheck the box for Automatic Character Continueds. Remember, if this is on, Final Draft will automatically enter (CONT'D) next to all characters continuing after action. If you prefer to manually place the (CONT'D) rather than have Final Draft place it there, you can either right-click (Windows) or hold the mouse down (Mac) next to the character name OR hit the open parenthesis (Shift+9) after the character name. If you have the program automatically place the (CONT'D) after the character name, you can't delete it unless you turn this feature off." I hope that helps! :)

Thank you, Beth! I did check out their Help site, but I guess I didn't look deep enough. Much appreciated!

I don't think it's a complete no-no Kevin, but it is becoming increasingly uncommon.

The trend is for a cleaner page. You should remove what merely serves to add clutter to the page.

The more seasoned members in my screenwriters' critique group tell me that as well (don't add too much clutter to the page).

Let me rephrase that--any clutter.

Don't do this anymore, don't do that anymore. It's getting to the point in 5 years scripts will be no more than a post-it note skipping the writer all together. lol Cool tip though, thanks!
