Screenwriting : Get some feedback by Michael Forster

Get some feedback

Do you send your scripts to anyone who is interested? Since I've only recently started writing, I'd like to get some feedback from different people, but I'm not sure how "safe" that is - anyway, I registered it with the WGA. Thanks!

Lindbergh Hollingsworth

You have a completed script, and you're ready to get some "fresh eyes" and feedback correct? When you send it out via email send a PDF and CC yourself on each email so you can track where you sent it. Cheers!

Michael Forster

That sounds reasonable - I haven't thought of that yet. Thank you!

You should always share. This is not the only thing you will ever write.

People don’t steal. I registered my first script and nothing since.

If you send me a link I can take a look. I am on a break at the moment.

No, dude, don't send a script to strangers online. Join a writer's group/Zoom with someone in charge who's done this - screenwriting/make movies for a living.

Nick Assunto

You really don't need to worry about script safety. This is the concern of many a new writer and it's not actually an issue you'll probably ever come up against. At this point I almost wish someone would steal one of my scripts just so I know they're good. If you're a new writer, I'd recommend joining our Writers' Room here on Stage 32. You can get a free month from Jason at j.mirch@stage32.com There are weekly classes. All the members are really awesome and a good group that swap scripts and help each other out a lot. Pitch practice sessions Thursdays on zoom. Access to all previous classes/webinars in the vault. It's pretty much like paying $39 a month to go to college for writing, just you won't get a degree.

It's not 'bout safety, it's 'bout reliability... you've got folks think they know sharing feedback, and then again you've got folks really know sharing feedback...
