IMDB Credits

Do you have to create a "regular" IMDB Account to see and receive credit(s) for different work? Or is that considered IMDB Pro (the one that costs $$)? Have no credit yet, but just thinking pro actively :)

Lisa Clemens

My credit on Case #13 was published by the producers who have IMDB pro. I used the free trial to add information to my bio etc. But they took my photo down when I turned down the offer to keep IMDB Pro (too expensive for me! )

William Martell

The production company or distribs have put up all of my credits, even one where I was uncredited! I have found that I can put up some details on my page through IMDB (non pro) but it's often a pain. I was mentioned in a big article in Screen International Magazine and they never posted it. Another article was not linked, even though it was in both print an online versions.

If you do on-camera work in a film (not student) that gets produced, or you do TV, you can either create an IMDB account or sometimes it gets created for you by production on the project you were in. You do NOT have to have an IMDBPro account in order to list your credits. However, IMDBPro is good to have once you've either gotten a few credits under your belt and/or you're really pursuing the acting profession. With IMBDPro, you can have your resume and demo reels included. You also have access to more information than people with regular accounts.

@Lisa ....I agree, that price is a little uncomfortable

Jeremy Edwards

@Sam ....I totally agree, & Im glad you told me it doesnt much benefit the writer

Jeremy Edwards

@William ahh ok, I did see a few others say a lot will put them up for you but wasnt sure. hopefully you can find a way to get credit for that article

Jeremy Edwards

Gameela ....thanks for filling me in on that! didnt have a clue before lol

If you do a short or feature film and submit it to a film festival through Withoutabox (or someone else does!) it will create an IMDB entry including cast and crew. I have no idea how photos go, but it will have an entry linking to you and work. Sometimes, it may get a credit wrong if you share a name with someone (I'm credited for something called the Fetish Set which I've got 0 to do with!), and it can be sorted out, but it's often a pain. In either case, my entry is still up there with links to cast and crew. shrug

The production company submits the credits when they post the project and after release, imdb will eventually get around to updating what is in the credit roll. If it is an established entity they are able to post things in development, pre-production and production. If it is not an established entity, the project needs to have a published article (say a trade report that a project has been picked up) or a festival release notification -- otherwise it has to wait until it is released to be posted. If you can swing it the annual rate gets you a break over the monthly. But even if you have pro the process of editing a listing (other than your resume) is massive PITA and has to go through their approval process, this goes for those production companies that have to load the credits too.
