My script Paradise, NV just made the Quarterfinals of the Stage 32 + Mark Creative Management TV Drama Screenwriting Contest!
I grew up in Las Vegas, and this script comes directly out of that. The characters are pulled from people I’ve known, and the events are rooted in things I’ve seen or lived through. It’s not a polished version of the city, it’s the one underneath it.
Vegas is a place built on illusion, but when you grow up there, you start to see what it costs to keep that illusion alive. The people chasing something, the people stuck, and the people pretending they’re not either of those things.
This script is my way of trying to capture that. A kind of twisted love letter to the city that raised me, for better or worse.
