Screenwriting : Professional coverage by Helena Ellison

Professional coverage

My year started out great! Right after New Years I won a logline contest hosted by Red Rust Studios and today I received my prize - professional coverage. Six pages of thorough, fantastic analysis. I got suggestions (sometimes minor, sometimes big) that I hadn’t even thought of that will make a scene or act improve tremendously. Stupid mistakes I’d made was brought into light. Praise was given for the good stuff. I can’t tell you how much getting pro coverage will help see your script in a different light. I want to say thanks to Sam Boseley who ripped my script apart (in the very best way) and provided suggestions on how to improve it. It’s up to me how I’ll use the feedback, but it was very insightful. Thank you so much! :)

Awesome stuff Helena! The Happy Writers has an amazing coverage service if you're ever interested in more!

Congrats on the win Helena, I will be taking Sam up on his generous offer of discounted coverage as a fellow entrant ;-)

Thanks Shannon, I've heard so many good things about Happy Writers that I for sure will seek help from there too when it's time! The more insight the better. The script I won coverage on will have to sit and stew before the next rewrite though and I'm currently completely wrapped up in developing a new story but keep an eye out for me later this year when I come knocking on Happy Writer's door :)

You won't be disappointed Anthony! Reading coverage is like getting slapped in the face with a wet cloth repeatedly - it's very sobering lol! (You get the strong areas pointed out too, so it's not all bad critique fyi). It's just very, very helpful, good luck with your script! :)

Anthony Cawood

Thanks Helena, I'm looking forward to it... mostly ;-)

I'm sure you'll be fine ;) I posted the winning logline on my profile if you're curious, the script is titled Binding the Spirit!

Love the LL and now want to see the film! As a fellow horror fan/writer I'm also looking forward to Dead Quiet, when is it due out?

Later this year, I'll post updates :)

Anthony Cawood

Look forward to it, I review films on my micro review site, www.subterrene.co.uk, so will be sure to give it a plug!
