Hello all, need advice and ideas. My short "Belly Kisses" was accepted into Beverly Hills Film Festival, so I will be attending a few of the events and seminars. They recommend we have promotional materials available to hand out. Since this will be my first Film Festival I was curious what would be appropriate materials for a screenwriter to hand out? Any clever ideas? Thank you!
This is a produced film, or just a script? And if it's a produced film, you're the producer? Or just the writer?
Just a screenplay, not produced yet. I am the writer.
Most films have post cards with movie style design. Some films make posters, which may or may not get posted. The postcards should have relevant contact, short description of the film and Beverly Hills notation. Whether short film or a script in competition, these work. Business cards are a must. With Vista print you can do your personal cards and if you like a business card that is a mini poster. The awards ceremony is worth it. I think of it as Oscar warm-up. Red Carpet, black tie, nice trophies. It's a great fest with good connections to be made. See you there, right?

PS... for postcards, I've always gone 4X6, though they are a tight fit in a jacket pocket. I've attended several years. Feel free to ask questions.
Thank you Philip- I was thinking of getting some art work done and printed as a post card (or flyer with other projects listed on back ?) -- I will be there but want to be well equipped! Are you going? Would love to meet Stage 32'ers!

Yes! I love this fest. I set up a ton of LA meetings during the event. My partner and I will be there for the duration. We'll get in late afternoon the day of the opening. One year it was at AMPAS and that was amazing! Postcards are far better than flyers. They only want the project selected by the fest to be promoted during the fest. They do a lot of pictures. After you can buy them and they look great on Stage 32 or IMDB. Days are casual. Nights, depending upon venue, are a little more hip in dress, and the Awards are dressy. I'm very envious that you guys are going! Seems like a good fest to go to for some networking. Too far way and too short notice for me, unfortunately, so I'll have to live vicariously through you two (my script is a finalist). Best of luck. Let us know what your experience is like. Cheers!

You're in, too? Awesome. Some good competition! It really is a good fest for meeting people. They have a top notch panel discussion for screenwriters, and often (usually) the head of a studio is on the panel.

I was in a short film that ran in a few festivals many years ago, and the producer/director had fridge magnets made as a promotional bauble. I still have a few of them on my fridge. lol

The Avalon Hotel just, as in most recently, posted the group rate for the BHFF. Might be best to call for reservations: 1310 277 5221

We are putting together a nice gathering pre-afterparty in the Avalon lounge on Thursday. My poster designer will be there and Ray Merrill in some of the BHFF posts. Hopefully some great talent, too!
Oh nice Philip. Keep us posted. Would love to come.
There will just be a gang of us in the lounge on Thursday, probably about 8. Afterparty starts at 10.
Perfect! See you there. I'm hoping to catch the Shorts at 4:30pm on Thursday and also possibly Girl on the Edge at 6:30pm.
Great. Not sure where the lounge is relative to what BHFF is planning. Previous years one and the same. You might check with them at the films and see what they say about after hours pass.
