Last week I watched the webinar (on demand) 'Script Breakdown Pulp Fiction' with Nick Phillips. It was very interesting and inspiring. Learned some new things about the writing process of that (cult) movie. I realized that the location of screenwriting can influence the script itself. If Tarantino never stayed in a cheap hotel in Amsterdam for a while, he could never let Vincent Vega say the Dutch drench their fries in mayonaise. ;)

Hey, Frank Van Der Meijden. I put a lot of thought into picking a location(s) for a script. If it's a micro-budget script, I usually go with a house or apartment. Sometimes I look for a unique location online and build a script around it. I like to use the unique things about a location to come up with scenes and dialogue. I also like to use a location to make things harder or awkward for characters. And a location's name can be important to the story too.

1/2 million sq ft warehouse with rooms filled with sorted junk from 60 years of a pack rat. Next to an actual motorcycle club. A farm with a waterfall and culvert. Basements with 100 year old furnaces....
