As a screenwriter, I really like Scott Myers blog "Go Into The Story". He captures the thoughts, feelings and world of a screenwriter well. As an insider, you laugh at the accuracy; as an outsider, it's full of fun insights. His recent coverage of the spec script sales with major Hollywood producers was thought-provoking. http://gointothestory.blcklst.com/2016/03/2015-spec-script-deals-analysi... Seeing the trends, the dips and swells in different genres over the past 8 years was interesting, especially while trying to imagine what caused those dips and swells. What would you say drives the trends? And how does it impact what you'll write next?

What drives the trends? The globalization of the film market. Studios have to think about international box office now. In the past, they could make decisions based on the strength of the domestic market (US/Canada). As Sean said, studios are focused on "big projects," and that's because big movies like TRANSFORMERS 4 play well across multiple foreign territories.
Nice points Sean and Regina! I've heard that as well.
