My November goal is to (finally) test out the free trial of Final Draft (been working in MS Word using style sheets forever) to begin a new rom-com Christmas screenplay in January.
Hi, Melissa Bell. I'm rooting for you to reach your goal for NWC! Final Draft is my favorite screenwriting program. Looking forward to hearing about your Rom-Com Christmas screenplay when you're ready to share more about it!
Love this plan. Making the shift to Final Draft will give you so much ease in formatting so your focus can stay on story and tone. Also, big fan of xmas-rom-coms. There's always a demand for these in the market!
I cannot even conceive of someone still grinding out in Word. Get Final Draft already. The 1970s were 50 years ago. Did you just move from a hammer and chisel? I’m not mocking you, but that’s the closest comparison. Give yourself a present of Final Draft and consider it “self-care”. You DESERVE IT!
I haven't upgraded to final draft yet. I'm using Fade in pro. The PDF export does not quite look the same, but it's a good program. Writer friendly. It doesn't have all the production tools. But the import/export? Primo. I can export to pretty much anything - including .fdx files.
It doesn't fully compare. I'm excited for you! Awesome goals. I'm not big on holiday movies but I love a good rom com. Cheering for it to turn out great!

I have to admit I've been using it for years and still don't know all its features, lol. Enjoy, Melissa Bell :)
