I'm sure this is a question many have asked before, but I'd like some new perspectives on this.
We all have busy lives outside of our creative pursuits. Screenwriting is a passion for me that I wish I could do more often; but my job and other responsibilities mean I can't devote the time I would like to writing. I was just wondering what some of your writing routines are or ways you are able to work your writing time into your lives right now and how you find that balance.
How's it going, Adam J Fernandes? I write early in the morning. I take a break to check Stage 32, check emails, do other things, rest, then write again. Even if you can't find long periods of time to write, you could write just one or two pages a day. Or three or four. That adds up.

Hi Adam! I work in theatrical distribution as an account manager to pay the bills which can be overwhelming and consume a lot of time even outside of normal work hours. I feel the same way - would love to have the opportunity to write fulltime which I'm actively working towards. I find that I write better in the early early morning before any stress from the day has taken hold from the day job blues. And I typically save up my vacation time and take a week off at a time throughout the year and stay in and write when I feel I've finally broken my script.

Hi Adam! I work as an Office Assistant for a PR Company. There are moments when I have downtime and it's usually during those times when I'll write. Most of the time I write during my lunch break or on the train to or from work. I also try to designate a weekend just to write.

Hi Adam J Fernandes I'm a legal advisor, so I only write during the evenings. I too wish I could write full time, but that is not possible right now.

Full-time retail employment, 3 kids, dog, cats... and yet I have to get my ideas on "paper". Any little bit of time I have available is used for writing. And yes, 1 or 2 pages at a time adds up! Balance isn't an option, really. For your passion you will find the time.

The best time is in the afternoon and sometimes late at night, listening to jazz fusion music.

I use writerduet because the IOS apps are great. I writer a lot of the time on the lounge with my wife. We’ll watch TV and when I think of something I do some work. Or if we just binge an old series we have seen previously, we are currently rewatching Vikings. When it gets into a section I know well, I’ll write. The other thing about using the iOS apps, is you can write on a break, on a train, waiting in line.
When you don’t have a large block of time, you leverage the small ones.

When I was a full-time assistant (underpaid and 60+ hour weeks lol) the only way I could fit it in was to make a point to write every day during lunch, and go somewhere off-site so no one could wander in and try to pull me back to my desk early haha. Now, I try to start and end my day with pages while working in between because I have a more flexible schedule. But every little bit counts, even if you're just researching or staring at a blank page. And I always have a notebook on me for random thoughts/ideas.

Since working all day as a teacher to pay the bills, having two children and other family commitments, I really enjoy THINKING all day about the story, plot and characters of what I’m doing at that time. I like very much that moment when “you’re not there”. That’s conceiving. All the rest is writing. Me too, I have WriterDuet on my phone, and also KitScenarist. I find those apps very useful to write down some sketches or outlines.

As someone who also writes and works in IT I am lucky that my position provides me some down time throughout the day where I can pull out my laptop and work on projects. Just find times, 15 minutes here or there and if you can find more, great and just write. Make sure there aren't a lot of destractions.
I know it sounds easier said then done but it works

I write first thing with my coffee. I can’t trust myself not to fall for the siren call of the tv screen if I wait until the evening lol
