Transmedia : Mastermind Group Members for Transmedia sought by Jonathan Kramer

Mastermind Group Members for Transmedia sought

If you are committed to being involved in the new frontier of storytelling and are mobile, gaming, tech, social media and production savvy, let's form a mastermind group to innovate, collaborate and have fun. Location isn't as important as desire.

James Hammer

Jonathan, I'd be very interested in engaging in such a group, but I'll be honest with you... I'm very busy with my start-up and would be concerned a) about having quality time to commit to meaningful discussion b) intellectual property issues that might transfer into other projects to which I am currently committed (I'm not concerned about someone stealing MY ideas, as much as I'm worried about group ideas transferring unintentionally into MFM projects under development). I would love to connect on a specific project collaboration, though!

Jonathan Kramer

James.. thanks for taking the time to comment. As far as IP issues go, this of lesser concern since the goal would be to discuss genre, storyworld and bible development along with platforms, distribution etc. Since the transmedia community is rather small and those that seem to feel they want to get into it, but haven't spent the time to study, there's a real need for us to find other like minds that are committed to it as I am. I've been working on a concept for months and while I understand and have studied this format, it's always good to have other cooks in the kitchen, LOL.

Tresa Bennett

Hi Jonathan, I'd love to join up and see what the possibilities are with your group.

Tresa Bennett

Hi James, I'd like to learn what kind of start up you are working on. I'm interested in having my own start up one day.

Jonathan Kramer

Tresa.. nice to hear from you again as I was wondering where you've been :) James is extremely busy and as you can see hasn't responded. Also be advised that a Mastermind group is structured meaning we will all agree to a certain day/time to have our discussions and create agendas in order to flesh out information. There's HUGE benefit in this type of approach if you're unfamiliar with it. Once we have established the 'players' we can set up a time for regular Skypes. The transmedia community is rather small within Stage 32 so we might do some outreach to bring others in as well. Thanks again

Sandy Brownlee

I would also be interested in this group. I've been passionate about Transmedia since 2009! Please let me know when and if this group starts up. Thanks!

Jonathan Kramer

Sandy.. Good to see another member that understands that Transmedia is the future. At this point the group is still forming though I would personally enjoy chatting and will send you a message. Thanks so much for the interest!

Debbie Elicksen

I'm in. Are you talking about meeting digitally? i.e. via Google+ Hangout or Skype?

Jonathan Kramer

Debbie.. good to hear you're another one that's interested though nobody has replied to get things started as yet. Yes I would think a Hangout or Skype session would be ideal. Anyone that gets this notification that has obviously responded please post a comment or send me a message so we can get the ball rolling, or platform as it were :)

Debbie Elicksen

Awesome. I use Google Hangout all the time, both for live streaming and private meetings. As Google has just changed some of its algorithms, again, there may be some different settings if you want to do this live. It might be a cool convo to have live, too. But I am good to go either way.

Tresa Bennett

I mostly use Skype but I have used Google Hangouts a couple times before. I think I can use Hangout but maybe I need to download it again.

Jonathan Kramer

Tresa.. what's MOST important is committing to the intention of the group. Once we have an initial meeting we will establish the frequency, duration, topics, etc. as well as to schedule regular sessions. I am going to Skype with Debbie today or tomorrow and Sandy very soon as well. Meantime it would be good to know your availability and if you're going to be able to commit to regular sessions :)

Dorothy Alexandre

Hi everyone ! I'd love to know more about your group. I am working on my new TV project and transmedia storytelling is definitely one of my goals. How often do you want to hold the sessions?

Tresa Bennett

Hi Dorothy, welcome to the Transmedia thread.

Jonathan Kramer

Dorothy.. Thanks for your interest. As you can see from the comments that besides Debbie nobody else has committed completely. If you're familiar with the best way for all to benefit from this type of group it requires commitment. Am also curious about the level of knowledge you have with Transmedia. Debbie is very experienced especially in the social platforms. I have been studying for many months while developing a dramadey genre project targeted for millennials. Feel free to add me and we can discuss your goals.

Jonathan Kramer

Rob Pratten, the founder of Conducttr, the ultimate transmedia development tool released his new book, "Getting Started in Transmedia Storytelling, 2nd edition" which is HIGHLY recommended for anyone seeking knowledge. I'm about half way through and it's changing so much of my development process its amazing.

Dorothy Alexandre

Hi everyone, my level of knowledge is limited. It is my goal to learn about transmedia storytelling. So I guess for now, my contribution will be limited since you have strong expérience. Thanks Jonathan for the book reference. I'll keep following the discussion on this board. TV production is a new venture for me so I'm eager to learn. I'll stay connected with you.

Jonathan Kramer

Good Dorothy..As you may know, interactive storytelling across multiple platforms is FAR different than traditional linear formats while being FAR more engaging and immersive. And like any new direction there are no set rules or strategies, much like story itself. The more you study and immerse into this arena the more fascinating you'll find it. Reading Rob's new book has been VERY illuminating along with one he recommends, John Truby's "Anatomy of Story".

Dorothy Alexandre

Thanks Jonathan for your valuable input. I have so much to learn. I'm definitely coming out of my comfort zone. On the other hand, French is my mother tongue so feel free to ask should you need any help in that regard. Have a fantastic day!

Tanya Laird

Hi All, I can't promise to be consistent in my time investment but I will be keeping an eye on this topic lounge and responding to posts where I think I have something to contribute. If you have any specific questions feel free to post and poke me in the body of the post, I'll make a point of responding within a week.
