Hi, I'm Richard Morell, and I just joined Stage32 a few days ago. I feel wonderfully welcomed here--thanks everyone! I've been involved in theater for all my adult life, and started writing screenplays in 1995. I'm currently at work on a gay rom-com set in Laramie, and I'm thinking I'd like to try my hand at turning it into both a novel and a web series. I'd love to hear people's insights into that process. What are the preliminary things I should start to do now? Are there any inexpensive or free courses I can take? I will probably look into Stage32's class for example. With regards to local people--those who are eager to do something--how should I direct them? I feel like people providing labors of love will be essential to process.

Hello, Richard! Great to see you in the lounge.... There's a lot of goin' on there. For future reference, I would stick with PRIMAL POSTS for best results. Basically, one topic at a time.

To get acclimated to S32, I would start with registering for RB'S webinar. It's informative and entertaining. The Boss even answers questions. Then, check out THE HAPPY WRITERS for all kinds of classes and pitch sessions.

Hi, Weston--it's a fun script. A religion professor from San Francisco gets waylaid by Providence in the capital of "don't-go-there-if-you're-gay"Land, Laramie, Wyoming, only to discover his fears are unfounded, and the place challenges him to confront his own obsessions and drives that impede him from having a fulfilling life. I've been modeling the journey on "Groundghog Day" where Phil Connors goes from being a jerk to a caring and compassionate fellow. Jesse goes from being a "human doing" to becoming his true self and realizes that G.O.D..--Gay Orgasmic Daddy of course!--truly loves him for who he is. And Shawn, I will try to limit my questions in the future. It didn't occur to me until you spoke up that doing a web series is big undertaking and asking one question at a time does indeed make sense.

Good luck with the adaptation! I'm about to embark on the process of adapting a radio script into film format (totally new process for me too), so shall be thinking of you!
