Introduce Yourself : I'm john fallon, a passionate film maker from NYC by John Fallon

John Fallon

I'm john fallon, a passionate film maker from NYC

I signed up for a Stage 32 account a while ago, but I really slacked off because I've been spending the last couple of years making some films, focusing on getting better at the craft of screen writing, working my day job as an editor for CBS Sports Network, and hanging out with my wife and two [soon to be three!] young children. For 2016, I'm making a commitment to get back to producing more work and being more active on the business side of film making in order to get to a place where my film making is a sustainable living. To kick it off, I've been listening to some really great podcasts [if you're not listening to Indie Film Hustle, you've got to look into it]. The founder of Stage 32 was on a recent episode and that reminded me to get back on here. I've also starting developing 2 documentaries that are near and dear to me and that I hope I can build an audience for [or as RB say, crowdsource them]. I would love to find other people to connect with, so feel free to reach out. I'm pretty accessible and I love talking about film and film production. Happy New Year!

Hey John!! Editing for CBS Sports must be so fun, and congrats on the upcoming addition to your family! You should check out our lounge and get in on some of the awesome discussions happening over there. There's a very cool "filmmakers on filmmakers" post going on here: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing/Filmmakers-on-filmmakers-payne-...

Hi John. I studied editing and fell in love with it. Never had my own system but I have a natural eye for it and want to get back into the practice of it. Anyhow, your day job is editing. Have you considered editing for film or (non-sports) television? Would you walk away from editing to do screenwriting and producing?

John Fallon

I've edited a fair number of narrative and commercial projects as well. I've been editing for over 15 years now. What if like to be doing more is directing, followed by writing and then producing

John Fallon

I'll check that out Erik. Thanks!

Richard "RB" Botto

Great to have you back, John!
