Hi! I recently purchased a badge to attend the AFM. I’m flying over from Australia, and was hoping I could maybe network with a few producers that will be attending this year? I’m a screenplay writer/director and I’m interested in meeting people, and building new friendships with creatives whilst I’m there. It’d be great to sit down and have a coffee whilst I’m there and talk about my projects and hear what others are doing. Cheers!

AFM is not the place to shop scripts but you never know who you meet there. One time, I met an actress at the hotel lobby. She invited me to her Hollywood Hills mansion for dinner but she also invited 5 other guys.

Dan M, They got screenwriting panels at AFM? New to me (haven't been in ten+/- years). Are they panels, seminars or just talks? Who's presenting 'em - Agents, Managers, Producers, Directors...?

I understand the AFM is mainly about buying/selling films, but I have faith I'll meet the right people. Are you going? Hopefully, I will have stories like your dinner party to talk about afterwards!

Renée Phoenix have fun in Los Angeles. Just don’t concentrate everything at AFM. Do a vacation. Halloween is a big event in LA. Nicholls awards is same week. Visit a studio tour and sneak onto closed sound stages and watch people work.
Go to USC or AFI school campus. Work on your phone skills and see if you can setup meeting Managers at their offices.

Dan MaxXx , thanks, I am definitely making the most of my time over there. I do have a couple of meetings lined up with managers and execs, hence the reason I'm travelling over.
