Project status update time!

Hey screenwriters!

How's your latest project coming along?

Silena Fuller

Not bad, A lil blockage , but I move on and write another scene. I'll piece all together later.

Adam Harper

Made some tweaks to my feature idea which seems to have unblocked a lot of the issues with it. Now I'm excited to get re-writing!

Bill Costantini

I'm doing well on one story with my writing partner - it's a really great serious subject matter - .and is a slow-cooker kind of story to write...can't rush this one. I'm also re-writing one of my old one's at the request of a producer. It's a cool romantic-comedy that needs some updating, and if one of my faves. I'm also reading one writer's very serious story...whew...it's a strong science-based story...really strong...like a Michael Crichton story. And I'm also reading someone else's script right now, too. It's zany-hysterical, and I don't think the dude copyrighted it - hmmm....maybe if I borrow a little bit of the premise....it's a premise I've never seen before...and it's a really good one. And maybe if I take some of the jokes....really punchy one-liners....he might not notice that, either. I better not tell him, though. Heh-heh.

Just kidding, Paul...your story kicks ass...and I bet it's going to win some comedy awards next year!

ShaDon Manigault

Hey, completed my first horror script called "Yusmarg" so far a friend

of mine stated it is "creepy as f**k" so I think it is begin received well lol.

Leona McDermott

Hi Paul

Re-brainstormed an idea and found the missing element. So pleased. Now doing an outline.

Also doing a final check on a script I’ll be sending to the BBC drama submission window.

What’s going on with you?

Callum McKay

I'm polishing off a draft of my drama pilot 'The Doghouse Club' to get it ready to send out to agencies along with some of my other work, and like Leona I'm also planning to send it into the BBC Writersroom.

Bill Costantini

Callum: what does that mean..."send it into the BBC Writersroom?" Does the BBC accept unsolicited material?

Phil Clarke

Hey Bill. Here's a link to it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/

Leona McDermott

Hi Bill

A couple of times a year the BBC have submission windows for unsolicited scripts. One for comedy and the other for drama.

Back in the day you could send a script any time but now it’s restricted.

Their Writersroom site also has lots of other third-party opportunities.

Bill Costantini

Phil and Leona: thanks for the information, and best of luck to you both...you're great people!

Bill Costantini

Willem: the few films that I've seen with little/no dialogue - The Bear, Apocalypto, All is Lost, The City of Sylvia, The Tree of Life, The Thief - all nailed it. Best of luck with yours, bro!

Paul Zeidman

Leona - working my way through the first draft of a horror-comedy

Bill - glad you're liking it. looking forward to the rest of your notes. and yes, it's copyrighted

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Just a side note: As far as I know, unless they changed their policy, the BBC writer's room is open to UK writer's only.

Bill Costantini

Phillip: 'ello, gov'nor! Would you care for a spot o' Rosy Lee? A veddy good tea, o' chap, and not the codswollop that the tossers and wazzocks favor...those starkers! And wouldn't ya know...fancy this - I just mades some scrummy! Some abso fab yummy scrummy, too! Mmmmm....

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Bill: I'm so knackered cause me roommate nicked me carton o' fags, which kept me up. And the bloody wanker took off without paying "is share o' the rent. But I"m not 'ungry because I had me a meal from the leftover jellied eels and blood sausage. Bullocks! I just read the label on the eels and they expired three years ago.

Bill Costantini

Blimey, ole chum...I'd be mad as a box o frogs! O bloomin' 'eck - it was that bright as a button yank Paul Zeidman. eh? Oh that Paul Zeidman - I'd give 'em a bunch of fives, I would! I'd give 'em a bunch of fives!

Phil Clarke

Wow, loving the Dick Van Dyke impressions!

Bill Costantini

Phil: Don't make us go Benny Hill on you, Phil - we're graduates of the Paul Zeidman School of Dramatic Acting, and can turn in a second!

Phil Clarke

If you do, I might have to respond as Russell Crowe in Robin Hood...

Paul Zeidman

And that tuition was worth every cent, believe you me
