I don't think I have posted in the introduce yourself lounge before. Greetings! I don't feel qualified to claim title to screenwriter, director, producer, actor, yet.
Ok, maybe producer after someone actually told me what a producer does, but I feel too new to the game to claim the others, only having done a few 48 hour film races and mystery dinner theaters the last couple of years. Although...I did write my first screenplay in April as part of a competition, to learn more about screenwriting. It didn't advance in the competition, but I took the feedback, reworked and expanded it. Last month it took 2nd place in short scripts at the Lake Charles Film Festival, so I could claim to be an award winning screenwriter. I've also written 2 other short screenplays since then. One has been completed which gives me my first directorial and lead acting credit. The other one has been shot, mostly, and is moving towards post production. It is a short being produced to help with the promotion of a new book by an author friend. Not a book trailer, but an interesting story, behind the story, that occurred during the writing of the book. We are in the "no budget" category. Our shoestring is broken, lol.
I consider these learning projects. I am in a part of the country where there isn't much of a film industry locally, but am within 2-5 hours driving distance to Houston, Austin, Shreveport and New Orleans.
I would love work with others on both sides of the camera and am willing to travel for the right project. I am always looking to learn more.
I may be later in life coming to the film game, but I bring a wealth of life experience to the table. I've been marinating all these years and now I'm ready to sizzle on the grill.

Welcome, Penny. Here if you ever want to talk screenwriting.
Or me for Hats!
Thanks guys! It's been a crazy 6 months since I made that post. Two weeks ago I did a 48 hour film race and a screenwriting challenge in the SAME week! I don't really recommend it...unless you are a glutton for punishment!
