Hi hi!
I hope you are all well. I am trying to use being 18 years, creative and 'politically-focused' to find opportunities to work on projects as scriptwriter. I know places like the BBC do things where they make a young 'activist' in the creative industries go viral, give them platform, submit them to youth awards... I have the discipline and experience for my age to back me up in qualifying for this route. But these things are rarely posted in job advertisements and I haven't found them.
So I am looking for ambitious answers if possible, because I know everything in this industry is done through 'networking' and it will be an answer, I've done a lot of it and had opportunities through them, but in terms of the golden ticket route, how the heck do I start?? Connecting to working with Mayor-related programs, radio programs, script writing grants/developments etc etc.
Would be super grateful to hear the knowledge of experienced industry practitioners and anyone aware of the industrial connections, especially if applicable to London, England.
Much Blessings to you all.

Make your own movie. Doesn't have to be polished, just show potential.

no need to thank. Here's Ava DuVernay's speech about removing the desperation coat from our bodies. This business doesn't care about us...until we create something worth caring about.

What Dan said. As an extra, if you're looking for a bulletin of opportunities and schemes, the Women In Film And TV newsletter (www.wftw.org.uk) has a brilliant round up of those each week.

Ditto with Dan... when I started my first screenplay and wanted to direct, my girlfriend told me to show I could tell any tale tale by translating its script to film.
