Seeking film agent

If there are any FILM AGENTS out there seeking new clients, I am looking for an agent to shop my suspense series for film adaptation. I have Film Treatments, a 2-Page Written Pitch and a Deck Pitch for you to review and consider. Hope to hear back from someone~~

The Teddy Bear Chronicles is an adult/older teen suspense thriller series (w/element of magical realism)

Vol. I HOPE IN PARIS! - When an educated, but somewhat desperate woman learns that her live-in cunning boyfriend plans to kill her, she must meticulously craft a plan to outwit him enough to escape from their home and disappear from his reach forever. He’s alienated her from the world, so she’s unsure whether her estranged family or new secret acquaintance will, or even can, help her get away…and all of this is told from the POV of inanimate household teddy bears!

Vol. II CHLOE'S CRUSADE! - The stuffed bears are back, but this time the fierce female FBI agent, skilled in martial arts, must hunt down a global drug lord while struggling within a frustrating love triangle with two men on her team. This may prove too much to handle when she learns that her close friend is being stalked by a stranger in another country!

Hope they pique your interest! Have a great weekend, everyone!! www.donnalynvojta.com

Every film agent out there is consistently on the prowl for new scripts and screenwriters. How do you think they earn a living? They are desperate to find excellent quality product that they can sell so they can pay their rent. The real question is how do they find you. There are pitch sessions right here on S32, there are writers' conferences all over the country, a few agents hang around film festivals that have screenwriting contests, a couple of the major scripts contests draw their attention. The real secret to being found by a film agent is to get out there, mix & mingle and flash a bleepin gold script in front of their eyes - then hang on for a wild ride.

Doug! Thank you so much for this advice, but what about authors like me who don't have a script, but only Film Treatments? Do I have a chance at getting a film agent's attention?

Also, Doug, why don't producers just seek out stories from authors, themselves? Why does there have to be a liaison (film agent)? Just curious...

Producers do seek out IP. Either way, whether it's agent, producer, manager, studio exec, lawyer, whoever, the next step is to find a scriptwriter. Agents have writer clients, so that's usually the most direct way to a screenwriter. Producers might have an established relationship with a writer(s) so they might reach out or set up an open writing assignment. If not, they'll reach out to agents or managers they know and ask who might be best fit for the project.

tl;dr - You should broaden your focus beyond just film agents.

Donnalyn - you're in Illinois where I think (don't know) you'll have a hard time connecting with significantly large production companies that have the time/interest or resources to mold a script from your treatment. I think your best option is to collaborate with a local screenwriter to develop your treatment into an industry recognized script format.

Film Producers are busy running their companies and changing their hats as they move between the various Departments. If they opened themselves up to Authors with dreams - they would never get anything accomplished. That's just a natural fact.

Here in the US, you don't NEED an Agent; but it sure helps. All the best to you.
