Screenwriting : Feedback is Priceless! by Artisan James

Feedback is Priceless!

I should have said... "if you have nightmares after reading this... don't blame me... I'm warning you now..."

"But if I sell this script someday... whether tomorrow, whether five years from now... I will reimburse you, I promise I will find a way to reimburse you... because YOU will be my first principle reader.... You are a part of this journey!"

Artisan James

For everybody who's been paying attention... Today is the day.

My horror script is finally going out to a friend of my Mother's who's been willing to read it from the moment I first pitched it to her.

She's been on board for a while now although I don't really know her all that well... I mostly converse with her over the phone and I've only met her a few times... yet... she has never read a screenplay in her life!... although she's aware of the genre and some of the classic and modern horror films/ remakes we are getting as of late. So I thought that she would be the perfect candidate...

Mom's friend is also one of a few people in my personal life who's aware of the title and absolutely loves it... knowing full-on that that title belongs to a blueprint to what could be an original, mainstream horror movie!

That is what I'm presenting to her... that is what I wrote... and she gets that before she's even read a single page!... and while knowing very little about the overall story and concepts at hand...

I'm going to share on here -- Stage 32 -- her initial feedback about her EXPERIENCE reading my script!

I'm also preparing a new post about some of the strange & crazy response that I've been getting around my hometown from people who are aware of my project. Both friends and strangers alike who have seen the title... know the logline to it and the fundamental driver behind it... as well as the statement that I'm aspiring to make with this script

That post will be up in a few days.

Cheers.

Pamela Bolinder that's awesome... and I hope that intrigue sparks even more once you see the title to my script and start to learn even more about it in the coming months... Stay tuned.. and keep a lookout for my next post ...some strange things have been happening... AJ

It’s awesome to have champions. You need people in your corner but let’s not get too cocky.

Anthony K

Sounds cool. I'm a big horror fan so an original horror script sounds intriguing. I look forward to hearing the title and logline although, of course, many great concepts have been poorly executed.

Bill Costantini

That's the spirit, Artisan, and I wish you the best with your marketing campaign and in raising the interest of producers for your horror story. Stage32 is certainly a great place to do both.

2018 was a great year for horror films. Dario Argento's re-made Suspira, The Ritual, Hereditary, A Quiet Place, Pyewacket, The Cured, Overlord, etc.. etc. - those are some tough acts to follow, and I wish you the best in your promotion and sales strategies. And, of course....your story better be truly horrifying, too!

Best fortunes to you in your creative endeavors, Artisan!

Artisan James

Dan MaxXx Thanks... and it's not cockiness but just plain excitement with this one, I promise. When it comes to the genre... there is no template for what I wrote it. That blueprint does not exist... until now! You'll know why eventually. AJ.

Artisan James

Erik Jacobsen ...hopefully that only increases upon seeing the title... and then increases even more when hearing the logline! AJ.

Artisan James

Anthony K Very true... but this is a concept that's never been thought of before, there is no horror script/movie like it as it's something that only I could of conceived and executed on the page the way I did. Even if somebody was to think of something similar to what I'm about to present... which would be near impossible... they were never attempting to write it... AJ

David E. Gates

I'm having a nightmare that someone used "should of" instead of "should have" :-)

Pierre Langenegger

And apart instead of a part.

Artisan James

David E. Gates + Pierre Langenegger Sorry for the typos guys... it irks me that I missed them... I'll make up for them...

CHECK OUT some of my Photos regarding my Horror Script @ https://www.stage32.com/profile/667776/photos

^ These pictures correlate and hint directly to what I've created... to what is on the page! I've actually in a way been documenting through these photos the evolution of the script/ writing process during the final year of refining it -- February to December of 2018, although many drafts of this script existed beforehand. And there's also a very scary story that I have yet to share regarding my script that is out of this world in terms of it happening to anybody! That will come in a verbal pitch of mine in the near future... as I talk on video about the occurrence in which I'm referring to... that may even scare you!... before you even know the TITLE of my script! -- P R O J E C T C D

Stay tuned. Start investigating. It will only amp up that lingering intrigue pre-title reveal... pre-logline reveal... AJ

I will post at least 1 picture a week (minimum) leading up to the title reveal.

Kristina Rezek I was a big goosebumps fan back in the day, had almost every book, and kept them in mint condition after reading them. They're now buried in my cellar somewhere... in a bin! A few months back I was actually looking for them because I wanted to feature a few on instagram, although many people do already.

I also loved the Goosebumps cover art/ artwork on each book and how it coincided so brilliantly with their strange titles! -- Why I'm Afraid of Bees is a fine example.

Thanks for the props. Stay tuned.

Pamela Bolinder 100% on doing both... and that's probably my email under ABJ82, I don't use it much although I check it at least once a week. I'm actually most active on instagram because I do ART as well as write! Have you seen any of my original creature illustrations yet? Links in bio. Thanks for the heads up and the advice. I was semi-aware of that. AJ

Artisan James

Hmm.. strange. I haven't messaged you in about a month. I never click on the chat list much either.
