Starring three amazing actors whose credits include "Narcos", "Major Crimes", and on Broadway performances. My DP was on "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and "Chicago Med" and my Key Drip works on "Euphoria", did "Captain Marvel" and so much more, this film is personal and critical in lowering the rapid rate of suicide.
When I was 14, I remembered things that happened to me as a child and the trauma was almost unbearable. I attempted to take my own life. I had no idea the promise of the future but I was lost. I’ll never forget seeing my mom at the hospital (not knowing in a year-and-a-half she would be taken from me) but it was seeing my grandfather cry at the thought of losing me that shattered me and made me never went to give in to ever giving up again. Suicide affected several friends I had growing up. Some got involved in gangs, drugs, or came out and weren’t accepted for who they were and they took their own lives—and our youth today is struggling with it more than ever before. That’s why I’m making “Spiraling”. I want to wake the world up about how staggering statistics of suicide really are. The World Health Organization (WHO) projects suicide rates will double by next year going from 1 out of 40 to 1 out of 20 people taking their own lives. This is a real and heartbreaking issue. But I need all of you, those I’ve gone to school with, worked with, and helped along the way to help raise the money. I’m not taking a check for this project but I want to make sure we can pay for all of the permits, crew, and campaigning it will take. Please help us get there and hopefully save someone’s life.

What a courageous and cathartic endeavor, Dawn! KUDOS to you for turning your experience into art and trying to bring awareness to an ssue that tragically affects so many young people today. What I would suggest is that you reach out to NAMI (The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) and try to garner their support. They just may be willng to do a contribution match, or help you to direct your efforts at organizations with a similar mission.
All the best to you!

@Dawn This is an admirable quest and I would suggest you pitch it to producers at pitch festivals (or private pitches but they cost money) who deal only in Humanitarian issues. If the “film” does not get funds required pitch it as a documentary. I am lucky enough to have been accepted for training as a Samaritan in UK. I understand more than most the shit life throws but lucky enough never to have felt suicidal. I get angry and hit out at bad situations, which is opposite end to withdrawal and contempt for oneself.
