Introduce Yourself : From composer to academia and back again. by Melissa Darrow Engleman

From composer to academia and back again.

Hi Everyone.

After a 25 year career teaching special education teachers about deafblindness and assistive technology, and writing grant proposals and publishing, publishing, until I was able to leave and pursue my first love.

First thing I did was the Master Certificate in Composition for TV, Film and Games at Berklee Online. I worked with a few people on small projects when I was done, including one short film and music for a podcast. Since then I've been composing and releasing all the music I didn't get to write while I was a teacher. I've released 2 full length CDs and a few other shorter items. A lot of my music can be found on youtube, Spotify, CD Baby and others..

I'm interested in working with a film maker to provide music for picture. Its great fun and I love to do it. If you are looking for a composer, you can sample some of my work to see if you think it's a good fit and then go from there.

I'm excited for the opportunity to be part of Stage 32 and I agree it's a perfect time to get involved.

Welcome, Melissa. Wishing you every success!

You're in the right place, Melissa. Not sure if you know this, but one of our educators is the Oscar Nominated genius, Terrence Blanchard. Amazing human being. Be sure to spend some time, start some posts, share some content, etc, in the Composing Lounge. We could use you over there!
