Introduce Yourself : Hello, Stage 32 Community! by Brian Jude

Brian Jude

Hello, Stage 32 Community!

Hi, all!

I started working in production in the NYC Indie film scene in 1993, eventually getting into AD, production manager and line producer positions. Eventually I got married and decided to “settle down,” raise a family, etc. - and working 18-hour days, 6-day weeks, with sometimes months going by without work wasn’t going to cut it. So I slowed down, worked on shorter, smaller projects in between day jobs, and started focusing on my own projects.

I had actually been taking a bit of a hiatus from the film world for the past few years due to personal/family issues, including a divorce, and working way too hard to stay afloat while being a single dad sharing custody with my ex. But I’ve been using this time of shelter-in-place to get back in the swing of things, writing a new script and studying current trends in the film industry.

I have worked on a variety of different projects, but I personally prefer inspirational dramas based on true stories, and I have a pipeline of ideas I want to write and/or develop.

One of the films I’ve been developing for a while is an inspirational biopic based on a life of Morris Goodman - he is a world-renowned personal/business development motivational speaker.

(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_E._Goodman) If you have ever seen “The Secret,” you may be familiar with history.

I have also been jotting down notes and have written a pilot for a streaming-targeted comedy series about a group of 40-somethings who have all recently been divorced and come together to support one another and heal... as long as their own mid-life debauchery doesn’t get in the way!

I have also just written a low-budget script about a rideshare driver who has to take a young woman from New Jersey to Ohio and the bond they form along the way. I figured it would be good to write something relatively contained (save for certain 2nd unit shots) that can be easily produced.

Next, just to keep the creative juices flowing, I’ll be working on a Peter Pan/Hook origin story. Have to keep the arsenal of scripts ready!

Looking forward to networking with all of you!

Namaste,

Brian

Hey, Brian Jude! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage32. Nice to meet you! Wow, that's an impressive journey! Congrats for making it through the fire!

I'd love for you to start a post about your experience - maybe something in the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) based on your time as talent. and something in the Producing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing) based on your time as a Line Producer?

If you're in pre-production for your Morris Goodman biopic, then you probably don't need notes on your script, but if you are still looking for executives to pitch it to, then I would suggest reaching out to Jason Mirch, our Director of Script Services, who is excellent at pairing projects with potential executives: J.Mirch@stage32.com

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!
