Your Stage : Introduction by Ryan Poirier

Ryan Poirier

Introduction

Hey everyone!

New to Stage 32. I'm a published artist and author of a graphic novel series called, The Herd.

I'm an entrepreneur in that regard I guess, as an independent author and artist in the ever-expanding world of comics and cartoons. I joined Stage 32 to see who I can connect with. I'm looking to hopefully connect with some book reviewers and show producers. I've written several stories and drawn casts of characters for each respectively over the years, as it's always been a passion of mine. I used to work in the kids' tv production industry as an illustrator and animator for various cartoons' online content, but always had the ambition to tell my own stories rather than someone else's. So I followed through with this dream and published my first graphic novel series, The Herd. It was a 5 year, 510-page solo project that I divided into four separate books for the first of five volumes I have planned. Along the way, I spread the word about The Herd through book signings and comic conventions.

It's a comedic satire take on the superhero genre, with an anthropomorphic cast of characters drawn in a traditional cartoon art style.

"When a disgruntled employee at a fruit juice factory contaminates a new product with a secret formula for their diabolical means, it accidentally results in a city-wide supernatural outbreak! It's up to the factory's owner and a new team of amateur heroes to save Maple City and stop the superpowered pandemic from spreading beyond its borders."

It's meant for any age as the humor and parody references targets all audiences.

Anyway, that's my Hello, my name is Ryan and I'm an Artist introduction.

Cheers, and I look forward to new conversations!

Hi, Ryan! The fates of Comic Book Production have been very unkind to me, blessing me with a handful of stories that would play beautifully in comics, but zero visual artistic talent to speak of. I'm eager to check out some of The Herd when I get a chance!

Hi Ryan, yea it's a challenging field in general. Asides from the big leagues to contend with, indie comic artists/authors are in an ocean of creative competition ourselves. Not that it is a competition, but you know what I mean. Thank you in advance if you get a chance to check out The Herd.

Welcome sir! I'm interested in developing this Rock Opera I wrote as an animation feature, I also like the idea of graphic novels!
