Introduce Yourself : At&t musical by Carlv Coleman

At&t musical

Back again this morning with my first screenplay. I'm trying to get advise on how to move forward with a screenplay so challenging to market. First problem is this is my first. Second is I lack credits & connections. Third is learned that high budget projects ( 20 - 30 mill) is an uphill battle, especially a spec musical.

LOGLINE: Our heroine must direct a musical during a playoff game, amid heralding flashbacks and theft, and must solve the team's first half blow-out for a successful film.

Can I get any suggestions from someone on how to proceed? Thanks in advance.

Celeste Reynolds

Good morning Carlv. Congrats on completing your first screenplay!

Shadow Dragu-Mihai

Carlv Coleman Since it is your first screenplay, get feedback from SUCCESSFUL screenwriters whom you respect. Screenwriters who have sold have a handle on why they sold. (Be wary of feedback from unsold writers... why would you listen to their opinions?) Do that first, before you start pitching it. Because when you start pitching, you only get one chance at a meeting, and word can travel faster than you can about the results of that meeting.

Carlv Coleman

Good advice Shadow... that one chance to pitch has been exhausted 3 or 4 times, to my dismay...

HB Duran

Great advice Shadow Dragu-Mihai - I wasted far too much time and money on unsold writer advice over the years. Never again.

Carlv Coleman

HB Duran I hope that doesn't happen to me. One guy sent 100% crap to my email, but not in lounge. Shows ulterior character & motive.

Carlv: I'm in the same position as you. I finally offered as barter my professional illustration services for editing my script to a screenwriter who has sold scripts in various stages of development , has an agent and is in the WGA. In exchange for his notes I offered to storyboard a couple of his pitch decks. Hopefully, it'll work out

Bill Albert

Would you consider doing a few pitches to get things started? Just a short sales pitch to an exec that will get you some feedback to see what it's like. It'll help give you an idea of what they want and what you need to do to make it happen.

Carlv Coleman

How am I suppose to ge their contact info o pitch?
