An old school DP who’s shot more film than digital!

Hey Gang! If we haven’t been introduced yet I’m Shaw Burrows. I started with a Kodak S8 100’ cassette single fixed lens at seven years old. I’m sixty now. I got my first paycheck as a swing g&e in 1976 so that’s about 45 years of knowledge that I can’t imagine taking with me. So if you’re at that point where you may need some advice, on pretty much anything movie, I would tell you what I could and point you in the right direction of someone who knows more than I do. I’m also available for the right script.

Very cool career, Shaw H. Burrows! I am sure there are a number of up-and-coming DPs who would really benefit from your knowledge. Have you posted in the Cinematographer's lounge?: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/cinematography

Hello!

Scott Fales

Hey Shaw, I studied cinematography at Brooks Institute in the mid-80s - when it was still a film school. I write a lot of historically grounded and spiritually themed content - novels, features, tv. You can find some of my work on my foundation's site www.egerfilm.eu

Great to meet you, Shaw! Have you thought about writing a blog post for Stage 32? I'm sure many, myself include, could learn from your years of experience.

Doug Nelson

Welcome aboard Shaw. There aren't many of us old timers in here. I've got about 45 years in, out and about the industry - lots of time on the flatbed and in the Writer's Room. The young 'uns in here need all the help they can get - most of em don't know that.

Fred Duran

Hey Shaw , I have 4 scripts all dear to me about family , loss , pain, reconnecting and even a script of all powerful female role models.

@Doug Nelson We actually had to cut and edit our own film back in high school, and my film teacher kept a leather-bound storyboard, gifted from his brother, of Lawrence of Arabia. Trust me. A lot of us know, but most don't have the humility to admit it. To see Kodak and celluloid fall victim to the digital medium is a tragedy.
