Hey! David M Beach... Primarily an actor... well, I was before covid, having a hard time proving it lately. I also have a one man comedy show (thedavidbeach.com) and.. covid inspired me to learn editing, which became a 365 project ( a video a day.. it failed last September when I was forced to leave my back house because of the landlord's medical needs... tough to move and produce daily vids... youtube..javathechimp - the later vids I am proud of, the earlier ones, well, I was finding my voice.) BUT I forced myself to keep my daily podcast going.. ( available .. hopefully.. wherever you hear podcasts -- Awesome News Daily with David Beach.. ) (( doesn't everyone have a podcast now?? )) So anyway.. I just continue to try to work as an actor where I can. Most interesting main income is as a standardized patient. Yes, my usual dress for work outfit is primarily my underwear and gown for student doctors. We teach them empathy, rapport, collaboration etc. The most fascinating job I have ever had.. and I have had it for awhile. I'm here to make friends and connections and hopefully help you solve your casting problems ;-) . Looking forward to make more connections

Hi David M Beach, welcome back to Stage 32! It's nice to meet you! I'm so impressed you started a 365 day project, even though it didn't go as planned, sounds like it was the jumpstart you needed to get back into the game. Standardize patient work sounds really interesting! How did you ever land that gig? I've had friends who have worked with Law Students doing mock trails, but medical acting is a whole different level.
I snuck a peek at your comedy resume, how lucky to work with Weird Al! I can't wait to see his movie!
BTW - there's a great network of actors doing table reads >>

You should check it out!

Thanks!! Ill check out the table read group. lol.. well.. weird al wouldnt know me from adam sadly, though I opened for him at Carowinds ( In NC ) I wasnt invited into his break room or trailer lol.. I actually got my first standardized patient gig via craigslist if I recall... some 13 years later.. word of mouth gets ya into other colleges. It.. is.. the toughest job I have ever loved.
hmmm link didnt go to a group... but Ill keep trying
"...the later vids I am proud of, the earlier ones, well, I was finding my voice." That's my screenwriting career in a nutshell, David M Beach. Haha
You can check the Job Section for acting jobs (https://www.stage32.com/find-jobs).

Maurice... that was what is great about a 365 project. You HAVE to turn off that editor that tells you its crap. I mean.. its obvious.. especially in hindsight, but it was a blast just tossing stuff online not caring... and then.. suddenly.. it started to hit right.. at least what I liked. ( another thing was not having someone over your shoulder editing your work .. which can kill comedy ) lol.. I was putting together two.. sometimes three puppets.. in one case four.. and editing it quickly.. I need to get back to it, but.. now I am in survival mode financially, and I have to set priorities...

David M Beach "You HAVE to turn off that editor that tells you its crap." That's hard sometimes, especially for me because I edit/rewrite as I go, so it's constantly, "Make this better," "Make that better." I've gotten better at turning off the editor though.
Hope you can find some acting jobs on here.

agreed..... Ive been trying to write a theatrical piece for over 20 years lol.. editor is too loud. But, there is a lot to be said for.. just writing it first.. .. like those morning pages.. then going back later to edit. Trust the monkey mind ;-) I fight the phrase 'Im not a writer" but its not my strong point. I am an actor and a damn fine one. I would rather make someone else's words come to life. BUT.. when I improv, thats my writing. So.. its there.. I just dont trust it. The more I talk about the more I am trying to figure out how to get my youtube channel back up. Right now however, I have a freelance gig that is truly time critical... BUT... just do it
"But, there is a lot to be said for.. just writing it first.. .. like those morning pages.. then going back later to edit." I like that idea, David M Beach. I might try it with my next short script or feature.
Have you tried Upwork.com for acting jobs?

You're welcome, David M Beach. I mainly use Upwork to search for writing jobs, but I see jobs for actors up there sometimes.

Hey David M Beach nice to meet you.
I love comedy. It's funny because people have always said to me that I should do stand up comedy but I never thought of myself as a comedian.
Anyway keep up the good work with the podcast.
