Ron Horton - Screenwriter, Author, Professional Saxophonist, Adventurer, Race Car Driver

Hello Fellow Stage 32ers. I guess it’s time to introduce myself.

Some 15 years ago I started writing screenplays, after taking a course through Mt Hood College. That course helped write my first SP, and it made it to the quarters of Scriptapalooza. After that a family medical situation took years away from my writing time. I was able to get some time on the keyboard, but not nearly as much as I wanted.

In honor of my forever 21 daughter, I’m back writing daily. I’ve dusted off a 12-year-old script, “Charley’s River,” and, after some very positive coverage, I believe it’s ready to be marketed. Stage 32 has a previous version in a couple contests, but it will be out there in its’ better form soon.

With this, and 13 other projects in the oven, I plan to be cookin’ on all burners. My goals are high, but so is my drive. Speaking of drive, on 4/17/21, at age 72, I became “The Worlds’ Oldest Rookie,” when I took my 1st professional laps in a Legends Race Car. (A book and screenplay about that will be coming.) And, yes, I’m still racing. Season 3 starting in April 2023.

Ron, I'm pinched for time today, but just saw this and wanted to drop in real quick to say that a. you're a total badass and b. I had a similar, 'tragedy-changes-your-trajectory' rabbit hole that I'm recovering from myself. I know, very personally, how challenging it can be to get back on the horse after losing time and momentum through no fault of your own... so glad to see you here!

Richard "RB" Botto

Damn, Ron. What a killer post. Scriptapalooza! Bringing me back, my friend. Been there, done that, have the coffee mug.

Don't think I could be more jealous of your Legend Race Car lap. That had to be one hell of an experience.

Glad you took the time to make a post. Your energy is contagious. Hope to be seeing you around the neighborhood more often. Cheers!

Richard "RB" Botto

Appreciate that contribution, Jeffrey. Sound like a badass yourself.

Jeffrey Henderson

Thanks man!

Ron Horton

Thanks guys. It's a rough road, but we all travel it at some point in time. Write-On!

Maurice Vaughan

Hey, Batman -- I mean Ron Horton. :D Congratulations on being “The Worlds’ Oldest Rookie”! What car did you race?

Alicia Vaughan

Ron, you inspire me. Thank you for this post. I really needed it.

Ron Horton

Hey Maurice, it's "do" I race. It's a Legend Race car. 5/8 scale of a '37 Chevy Sedan. 1250 motor brings me into the curves at 115 MPH. Check them out in You Tube. I really need to open up some time on my schedule to get that movie started.

Matthew Parvin

Welcome, Ron! Nice to meet you. Glad you're here.

Maurice Vaughan

Oh, I meant what car did you race during your first professional lap, Ron Horton. I looked up the '37 Chevy Sedan. It's beautiful! I've seen that car before, but I didn't know what it was called.

Ron Horton

That was it Maurice. If you go to INEX Legend Cars you'll see them. This will be season 3 for me.

Is this the website, Ron Horton: https://www.inexseries.com/

Ron Horton

That's the series. I am in the Golden Masters. I won that division my 1st season. Last year there were a lot more of us, so I wasn't as high up the ladder. Here's a youtube of World Finals at the track I race on. I wasn't there this year, due to $$. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5pYmMkiSzY

Ken Levine

hi Ron, nice to meet you.

Ron Horton

Just heard my screenplay "Charley's River" is a quarter finalist in Table Read My Screenplay.

Maurice Vaughan

Thanks for the video, Ron Horton. Congratulations on winning the division! What color is your '37 Chevy Sedan?

Ron Horton

Here you go. Lots of pics on my FB page.
