I’m a U.S.-based producer who recently optioned a novel by an Irish author. It's the story of an Irish nun who, wanting to keep a long-held promise to a former fiancé, travels across three continents in an attempt to fulfill her imagined destiny of becoming the world’s oldest person by knocking off the four others who exceed her 118 years on Earth.
Also being a writer, I know how difficult comedy is to handle well, and the author created a completely charming story that contains the kind of culture-crossing fun that made "Ted Lasso" - especially the early episodes - so engaging. I plan to sell the rights to or partner with a larger production company as this isn’t in my wheelhouse. (I have primarily worked in drama and in documentary, licensing work to Netflix, PBS, etc.) And I've also not done international shoots. Agents for several A-list actresses have now accepted the script to read, however, and I'd like to get some ideas for possible partners before I hear back (if I do.) Do any companies come to mind? With both international and comedic experience?
