Senior Citizen Screenwriter Keeps Creative Juices Flowing

At 76 I'm on my 7th screenplay and don't want to sit around in a green lawn chair and watch grass grow and leaves turn (like my grandpa did). After I took several courses from ScreenwritingU, STAGE 32 provides me with additional opportunities for connections, education, and ideas. Titles of my finished scripts are Campout Finale, Angelica's Touch, Uber Nun, By Fire and Water, Whatever I Was, and Right Place Wrong Time. Currently, I'm writing about a soldier with PTSD who befriends a neighbor boy with ASD (whose dad lacks patience with him). I place it around Christmas in a combined family-friendly, Rom-Com-like setting--an interesting challenge, but fun! All suggestions are welcome. Happy Day All!

Jan Fredric Dalby Hi Jan, it’s good to see you during the IYW. It’s great to hear about your passion for storytelling. Have you tried any of the Script or Education Services on the site? I’m glad you are not sitting around and watching the grass grow.

Maurice Vaughan

Welcome to the community, Jan Fredric Dalby. Congratulations on getting to seven scripts! Love your "don't wait around" attitude!

Your soldier neighbor script sounds interesting. Producers, production companies, directors, etc. search Stage 32 for projects, so I suggest posting yours in the Logline Section of your profile.

Welcome Jan! Nice to meet you. Glad you're here.

Thanks for your suggestions (and attentiveness to newbies joining the site!). I've placed loglines and scripts on Inktip but haven't delved deeply into STAGE32 available offerings. I'll get with it ASAP (and make sure my profile is current.

Hey Jan. Your passion and energy shine through, my friend. To help you shortcut how the Development Team might be able to help you and point you to all the resources here, just drop them a line with a little about your screenplays and your overall goals at success@stage32.com - They'll be able to point you in the right direction. Cheers.

You're welcome, Jan Fredric Dalby. "and attentiveness to newbies joining the site!" I was a newbie once. In the industry and on Stage 32. People helped me out. Only right to do the same.

Jan Fredric Dalby

I took your advice RB and emailed SUCCESS with my goals and "a little about my screenplays" (I sent loglines--to presumptuous?). Thanks for being a compass for all of us.

Hi Jan! Welcome to Stage 32! I look forward to reading your loglines. Thank for emailing in, always happy to help!

Richard "RB" Botto

Glad you took that step, Jan. The Dev team works tirelessly for our community, as evidenced by all our success stories. I have no doubt they'll get you where you need to be.

Jed Power

Hi Jan, I'm an old-timer also. Isn't it too bad we didn't have this fire for screen writing in our 20's? Good Luck, Jed.
