I got a few query rejections for my books. Most of them gave praise for my writing. Yet, still rejected. It was upsetting.
Recently I contacted a good director and introduced my scripts to him. Due to having full plate he also rejected my query. This wasn't upsetting at all.
My work got a good praise.

Rejection is sometimes just a matter of someone's personal taste. And in the film business, it's not always fair. There is a great film you should watch called Official Rejection. Really shines a light on the subject. Keep writing!

Emiliya Ahmadova I agree with Xenia Alter and Stephen Folker. Congratulations on the director liking your work even though he had to pass on it!

Emiliya, congrats on getting the kudos on your writing! That matters. There is always rejection in this business, for so so many reasons. Keep up the work and make the connections even when people may say no. They might say yes to something else later!

Thank you all. I really appreciate your kind words. Concerning making connections I am not good at that. I will have people on my contact list but will not keep in touch with them due to personal reasons.
You're welcome, Emiliya Ahmadova. This is something I wrote in a blog for Stage 32: "If you don’t feel comfortable talking to people in the Lounges, try this approach: start conversations with things you’re comfortable talking about."
I don't know the personal reasons you don't keep in touch with people on your contact list, but keeping in touch with contacts is really needed in this industry. Is there any way you can work around that issue ("I will have people on my contact list but will not keep in touch with them due to personal reasons")?

Emiliya Ahmadova Sometimes the rejection has nothing to do with your writing. Sometimes it's circumstances like the person feels that your script is not for their market. That doesn't mean it's not good - just means that it may not be right for the market or contacts in their realm of influence. Not too long ago, I had a pitch get a perfect score - all fives (voice, originality, concept, etc.) but they still passed because of the cost and scope of the project. We make the mistake of thinking that acceptance revolves around the quality of the script only but there are a ton of other variables. Keep going. Don't stop. Your success is not up to one or two other people.

I once got a rejection letter that said, "Your stuff is too funny for sci-fi." To this day I make fun of that human.
