I've been thinking about this a lot. Because this also impacts the residuals that the WGA is fighting to get and makes me think of what happened with Michaela Coel a few years ago where she sold her series to HBO instead of Netflix because it gave her ownership over the project and I wonder if more creators demanded that how it would impact moments like this. So if the AMPTP pays up on residuals, how more commonplace will things like this be? And will residuals rise to make up for it? Just some food for thought

Emily J Considering Warner's did the same thing not too long ago, I think this practice will become the norm.

I've been hearing about this a lot, Bob Harper. I was planning on watching "The Princess." Instead of axing the content, Disney could store it on a server for the future. I think that'll be better for business since they could gradually release the content to get people excited about signing up/they could gradually release the content to get people to stay.

Dan MaxXx It was inevitable that Netflix would to that.

Maurice Vaughan They aren't having storage issues. They don't want to pay royalties.

When I saw the post title, I just imagined all the Disney villains being told they have 24 hours to be bad guys without consequences. But seriously, I hadn't thought of what Emily J brought up about residuals. Definitely affects the ongoing strike negotiations, I'd imagine.

I understand, Bob Harper. I just think if Disney stored the content for future use (gradually release the content to get people excited about signing up/gradually release the content to get people to stay), they could make up for the cost of paying for royalties.

Maurice Vaughan They'll store stuff that doesn't have to be returned to the creator if it isn't being streamed. They would probably have to renegotiate it to bring it back to the public. It all depends on what the contracts say.

@Paola Michele - I'm not sure what you said has to do with the topic.
