Screenwriting : So it begins... the rewrite! by Rachel White

So it begins... the rewrite!

So excited to be back working on my pilot script. I was feeling a bit deflated about the whole thing, whatever I did to it just didn't feel right. I decided to step away from it and do some more research and planning. I have a plan and I'm sticking to it. Happy to report that having started from scratch yesterday I have 18 pages. I'll take that as a win so far. Happy writing everyone:-)

That helps me too, Rachel White. Step away from a script. Congratulations on getting 18 pages done on the rewrite! Happy rewriting!

Good on ya Rachel. For me, my successful rewrites depend on quality introspection and a large pair of pruning shears. It's amazing how many story improvements are already there between the lines of what you already have. Sounds like you've found yours :-)

Rachel White I can relate.

Matthew Kelcourse it took a little while to get back there. I did hit the delete button instead of the pruning sheers but given how much needed changing it seemed like the best course of action. I'm really bad at editing as I go so this time I'm determined to keep writing all the way to the end before editing. So far so good!

Rachel White - I remember someone (maybe here?) saying write when you write and edit when you rewrite. Write on!
