Zach's an incredible guy. And an amazing, smart manager. Also nearly impossible to land. I fully concur with what he says on the clip, and I've heard it numerous times from other reps, as well. It truly is about having a unique voice that is specific and identifiable. Voice is most often something that develops over time. Over many efforts. I've known a few writers who just seem to have had that unique voice from jump street, but I'd say that's far and away the exception. Reps will spark to a great voice with a "meh" structure or plot that needs further work, VS. a voice that's familiar/average/run of the mill, with killer structure or plot. No contest! Reps want to sign writers who sound different. And interesting. And if that script is also commercially viable, now you might actually be on to something.
