Screenwriting : R.I.P Coverfly by Catarina De Cèzanne

R.I.P Coverfly

Coverfly is shutting down, and I am heartbroken. Is anyone else feeling the same way? I'm just curious if someone knows of any other place like Coverfly, especially for writers outside the USA like myself. I was so happy when I reached the Top 16% in folk horror and an Irish dark TV Drama. I will miss the awesome free peer-to-peer notes and the rankings. In your opinion, what do you think will happen next? How will this affect your screenwriting? Where are we moving towards? I honestly just want to talk about it.  Perhaps we can share each other's coverfly page before it officially closes in August Here's mine: https://writers.coverfly.com/profile/writer-45c26fd7d-72755

Hi, Catarina De Cèzanne. I don't use Coverfly a lot (I posted scripts on my page), so Coverfly closing won't affect my screenwriting that much. I think writers will find other platforms as Coverfly closes/after it closes. The closest thing to Coverfly that I know about is Stage 32.

I made it onto the Red List with my short OVER AND OUT, and was in the 1% for overall short scripts for 3 years, I am so sad that the site is closing.

Hello Catarina De Cèzanne I've spent the last 5 years working at Coverfly in development. That means if you ever spent time on the platform or submitted scripts to one of their affiliate or sister brands (WeScreenplay/ScreenCraft/Launch Pad or even Big Break), we most likely interacted at some point. I oversaw the writer development program and was the industry's first point of contact to find scripts, writers, directors.

So what's next? Fewer opportunities for writers?

Thankfully, no. When one door closes, another one opens.

After playing a key role in discovering talent and IPs like I AM NOT ALONE (Deadline) and building A-list led incubators (Deadline), I'm thrilled to continue my mission at Stage 32, where I'll be leading our writer advocacy and industry outreach efforts.

Our Development Services support writers, producers, actors, filmmakers, and other creatives across the board. We currently work with over 2,500 executives from major studios, production companies, and agencies who are actively seeking new talent and projects through our platform. The transition feels natural since I'm essentially doing what I love most: bridging the gap between talented creators and the industry professionals looking for fresh voices. The synergy between my experience, mindset, and Stage 32's mission couldn't be more aligned.

Most importantly, Stage 32 isn't just about getting people represented. It's about getting them working and their projects on screen. We currently have several films in theaters that began as Stage 32 connections, including NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH starring Jack Quaid and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, which was first discovered on Stage 32 through a pitch session. Just last month, we’ve had 200+ script requests and 130+ meeting requests. Not too bad, eh?

So while Coverfly is going away, Stage 32 is making a commitment to support more writers than ever. We're onboarding new executives everyday who are true gatekeepers and game-changers.
