Last week, my screenplay recieved a score of 8 on an evaluation from The Black List and they blasted it on their social media pages. Within 2 days, I got 28 Industry Downloads. Before that, the most I had gotten was 2... in a year. Beyond that, I got a perfect score on a pitch here on Stage 32 with a request to read, as well as a production company on the East Coast that requested to read my script. which they found on Coverfly.
It may be premature, but I feel like things are accelerating. Does anyone have advice on proactive things I can do right now to best position my project? My original plan was to make this film myself as the Writer/Director/Producer/Star as I have done with my short films before this. I know that features are a different beast entirely, but it is a challenge I welcome and look forward to.
But, I am not so hell bent on doing this that I will refuse collaboration if an amazing offer comes along.

Congratulations on getting an 8, 28 Industry Downloads, a perfect score on your pitch, and script requests, Peter Jang!
If you want to still make the feature film version, you can find a production team, actors, crew, and resources on Stage 32. www.stage32.com/blog/the-importance-of-community-and-collaboration-in-th...
That blog mentions Stage 32's Introduce Yourself Weekend, which is going on today. IYW is the third weekend every month (Friday-Monday). It's a great opportunity to network.
And you could check the Job Board for co-writing jobs (www.stage32.com/find-jobs).

If they like it, they may want to bring in their own people, rewrite it, and so forth. Just be ready for this. Everyone wants to add something to the soup. Often it can get ruined. But at least it will get made!

Jon Shallit yes, I definitely know this. I'm going to consider anything that comes my way, but I definitely have my preferences! Thanks for your insight!

You're welcome, Peter Jang. And if you're looking for advice and insight for making a feature, I suggest making a post in the Producing Lounge (www.stage32.com/lounge/producing).

Congrats, man! It sounds like now might be a good time to solicit representation to help you negotiate for things like the right to direct or star in it.

Congrats!! Just joined both Stage32 and The Black List today ā talk about perfect timing for inspiration! I'm a 3D animator diving into the industry with wild ambition. If you need a 5-minute break from being awesome, feel free to check out my short film on my page ā took me a year to make it, so it better be at least slightly watchable

That's awesome! Congratulations!
I agree with the advice to start looking for representation to help best position yourself. if you've had success with your short films, your reps may be able to negotiate a deal for you to direct as well, but if you're not married to the idea of directing this one, it may be easier to sell. A lot of people have also had success directing a proof of concept short of the feature to show they are capable, even as first time directors [THIRSTYGIRL is a perfect example].
Good luck, and please keep us posted on how you make out!
