Filmmaking / Directing : What are the chances for a solo costume and prop maker to get a collaboration with even a small film or even short film studio? by Den Rain

What are the chances for a solo costume and prop maker to get a collaboration with even a small film or even short film studio?

I have been creating costumes and props for quite a long time, and I have always dreamed of collaborating with a film studio or even a writer. There are a lot of famous and talented people here, whom I would like to ask) How do you choose a prop master, do you rely more on the uniqueness of his products and approach, or do you rely on some large prop studios because of their position in the industry?

Shadow Dragu-Mihai, Esq., Ipg Sure! I have already sent you a request)

Holly Fouche

Just wanna stop by and say that is an AMAZING Springbonnie/Springtrap head!

Den Rain

Holly Fouche Thanks so much! it's nice to see fans of such fandoms here)

Surely you can find low budget local films that want props from someone looking to break into the industry. There' a million DOPs and screenwriters, but prop makers not so much.

Find the facebook groups that local filmmakers use to recruit talent in your area and volunteer?

Den Rain

Simon Turnbull I followed your advice. I started posting in Facebook groups about low-budget films and everything related to that) I hope it works.. Thanks!)

Den Rain

Shadow Dragu-Mihai, Esq., Ipg I'll just say that I still haven't received your response to my messages))

Callie Currence

That looks awesome!! I'm a 3d printing professional who also loves practical fx and costumes.

Deji Bankole

I am a writer/director and i would for sure want to connect with someone like you, especially if you lived in LA so I am sure you will get some bites.

Den Rain

Deji Bankole unfortunately I am from Ukraine (but in terms of cooperation we could communicate on any social network and then over time via video call if necessary. I would send all the props/costumes by mail (you would have everything in 2 weeks) I would just start working a little earlier) well and when the borders finally open I would gladly fly to America! I have been dreaming about this for a long time too) so if there is something to discuss I can describe in detail my skills and capabilities and you will understand what projects you can do given such props. perhaps I can even throw in an idea for a script with the products and capabilities!)

Den Rain

Callie Currence then we are colleagues)
