HOWDY! Once again, we have reached another Introduce Yourself Weekend on THE SOCIAL NETWORK known as Stage 32. And, as per usual, I present my challenge: Figure out the theme for my post this month and you win 23 points! Hopefully it won't take you ALL NIGHT LONG to do so.
THE TROUBLE WITH NORMAL posts is they're just way too little work for me to enjoy, clearly... Okay, here we go:
ONCE UPON A TIME, there was a guy named Doug Kayne. He's a comedian, writer, and actor (THE ORDER of these doesn't really matter) based in Los Angeles. He's a member of the improvisational sketch comedy trio Those Four Misfits (www.ThoseFourMisfits.com). They perform live shows around once a month, and also have scripted sketches on their YouTube page and the Scriptwriters Network Roku channel. If you're in the L.A. area, they'd love to see you at one of their live shows.
He also has a series bible and pitch deck constructed for a sci-fi comedy series, Going Commander, which he's written with Jane Hopkins. The goal is to have it airing on a streaming service so they can share it with you. It's been a labor of love to write, and people at the read-thru said they enjoyed it and would definitely watch it when it is made. All that REMAINS is pitching to the right people who will greenlight it (and, ideally, cast Doug in it as well). If any of you have an in to THE OFFICE of people that would love to be pitched to, he'd be very grateful.
A bit of newer news, though, is that in the past two months, he wrote a horror short film, "Chips the Clown", which is now in pre-production (to be directed by his friend and previous collaborator, Kim Marie Farris). They're currently in the process of casting, location scouting, finalizing crew, and finalizing makeup looks for the title character. It's exciting and terrifying all at the same time! It's not based on any URBAN LEGEND -- just his own imagination.
He looks forward to working with all sorts of really cool, creative people. Feel free to reach out if he can help you get your stuff made! He'd love to be able to PAY IT FORWARD.
Thank you.
Doug Kayne

Thanks, Maurice Vaughan
You're welcome, Doug Kayne. What's Chips the Clown about? Or are you keeping the plot under wraps?

Maurice Vaughan It’s a little under wraps, but it’s a twist on “creepy clown meets little girl”.

Doug, your posts are always a highlight of Introduce Yourself Weekend — a clever blend of charm, wit, and just enough mystery to keep us guessing. Loving the hints sprinkled throughout like breadcrumbs in a genre mashup!
“Going Commander” sounds like a blast — a sci-fi comedy is right up our alley. And “Chips the Clown”? Already sounds like cult classic material. Wishing you and your team the best with pre-production!
If you're ever looking to jam on animated concepts, voice work, or brainstorm pitch strategy, don’t hesitate to reach out. Keep shining and keep the laughs coming!

Thanks, Laquan Copeland. Glad you’re enjoying them. They’re definitely a tool for me as well, to keep my creative juices flowing. Have you figured out the theme, yet?
I noticed you’re in L.A. as well. Would love to connect if, for no other reason, to talk shop and find out what you’re working on and up to. Feel free to DM me, if you’d like. We can talk shop over coffee or something.

Doug Kayne, you absolute legend, your Introduce Yourself posts are half community engagement, half detective game, and I’m here for it. I have to admit that I’m stumped this time. I could probably figure it out if I did some research, but that would ruin the fun, so I bow out this month.
Bravo on keeping the tradition alive with such clever flair. Always looking forward to your posts, Doug!

Thanks, Ashley Renee Smith! I may have made this month's a bit harder than anticipated.
As we're nearing the end of the weekend, I'll give the answer: The theme for this month's post is "Lex Luthor". An actor who has portrayed Lex Luthor (either in live action or animation) appears in all of the capitalized hints. And, a little known fact, in his first appearance, Lex Luthor had hair (red hair, hence the title of my post). It was an error in a later issue where the artist portrayed him as bald (thinking a different character was him), and thus his trademark appearance was born.

Ahhhh, tricky, but I love it.
And yes, I know all about Lex's red hair. That's a good hint.

Ah, Ashley Renee Smith, your geek cred raised up a bit by knowing about Lex’s hair situation. A nod of the Kryptonite yarmulke to you on that one (and I bet you also know why I said “yarmulke”, too

Hahahaha! Someone's read Last Son of Krypton.

Let’s just say I’ve been a comic book reader for decades…with lots of stories and history to draw from.
