I'm Jacq Winter, a Pushcart Prize nominated writer listed in Best American Essays with words in The New York Times, Women's Health, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, and The Coachella Review. If you're wondering what any of these things have to do with screenwriting, that's a great hunch and the answer is nothing! I'm brand new to this medium and world, hence the friendly intro.
As a classically trained prose writer, my recent transition into screenwriting's been a wild ride! My debut pilot script has both won and been made an Official Selection at a number of film festivals nationally and internationally as I await the results of others. Fingers crossed and what a trip!
I look forward to meeting some solid folks here and have already enjoyed Stage32 and its services a great deal.
PS: I've quickly fallen for the utterly mad and frenetic nature of screenwriting so I'm curious, what draws you to the form?

I read part of the Office Space script in 12th grade and liked how the script was written. After that, I looked up one or two articles about screenwriting and started writing scripts.

welcome to Stage32 Jacq Winter ! and congrats on the achievements, both in prose and screenwriting!
I often think of prose fiction as the hard work of character, plot, and world development. I’m excited for your transition to scripts and about your bringing all of that craft to this new medium. you’re gonna rock it ✌

...an awesome way to look at these two very different forms of writing--I totally agree. All I know is I'm having lots of fun and only pulling my hair out some of the time, so... I consider this new endeavor a win! ;)
