I grew up around folks who could lose everything over a missed court date or a “donation” slid across a folding table. I learned young that paper can hit harder than a gun—and I’ve been writing ever since to flip that truth on its head.
Current project: FORFEIT (1-hour, female-led premium crime drama)
Logline: In Houston’s East End, a bail boss and her two-person strike team weaponize the law to crush a bond-forfeiture cartel run by a megachurch Pastor and the DA; all while racing to free her framed brother; before the system forfeits her business, her freedom, and the families she protects.
Why I’m here: to connect and learn from people who’ve walked the path—writers, managers, producers, line producers, editors, and anyone generous enough to share hard-won experience. If you’ve shipped a show, staffed a room, packaged talent, cleared music, wrangled a courtroom location, or just survived post… I’m listening. I’m coachable, collaborative, and obsessed with craft.
What I can offer back:
Thoughtful notes/coverage swaps (I keep it actionable).
Pitch-practice trades—tight, buyer-facing reps.
Grounded production thinking (clusterable locations, limited VFX).
Houston know-how and authenticity reads on justice-adjacent stories.
A cheerleader who shows up, on time, every time.
Near-term goals: sharpen my pitch, build smart relationships, and align with the right rep/producing partners for FORFEIT—while staying useful to this community.
If any of this resonates, I’d love to meet you. Drop a comment or DM, and tell me what you’re building—so I can celebrate it and ask better questions. Thanks for letting me pull up a chair.

Great intro B. E. Davis - honored to meet you. I lived in Houston for a little over 11 years - met and married my sweet wife there. Glad you're with us!

A lot of it resonates and I see a tough but fair character emerging here just from your bio here. Although I'm in a whole other place, I see a potential richness from collaboration. I will email you an episode from my show that should give you a sense of what I'm talking about. I'm not a talker I'm a writer. Iow, don't waste your game putting your best hitter(s) on the mound, unless they can really pitch. I'm glad baseball is a lot smarter about pitching than screenwriting is. maybe you can teach me some of your toughness.

I love your energy! Also I would be very interested in doing some swaps/notes. I just finished a screenplay, a true story about sexual abuse and the Mormon church, that happened to me when I was young. I also had another script requested by an exec. a few weeks ago and I'm waiting to hear back. The waiting is killing me, so anything that helps take my mind off of that I'm all for it!!! LOL

I could tell by just the logline and your preamble. Similarly my project is female led, hour long dramedy designed for three 10 episode seasons. I am always intrigued by male writers writing female leads as originally I was told that it is a hard POV to deliver authentically. So far, I have not found that to be the case and I am guessing that like you this story comes from direct experience and the heart!!

B. E. Davis the image for the film alone is very compelling.I love that you have written a female led crime drama. Sounds like a juicy role. I also get a sense of your earnestness around the craft and of wanting to be in service to others as well. Great attitude! I hope you get the support you need. By the way, how did you come up with the idea for this project?

Darrell Pennington, I'm the oldest Brother of four younger sisters. It's easy for me because I draw from their personalities to create my characters.

Thanks Alexandra Stevens! I come from a family of Politicians, so civil activism has always been at the forefront of my life. Behind closed doors, I got to witness, firsthand, how the justice system works in the favor of the most prepared person. Most people, however, lack the knowledgebase to properly prepare themselves. I sought to create a team that, while fictional in nature, can inspire and educate people who need it, in real life. This is that team!!!
