How to Direct Micro-Budget Feature Films with Ted Campbell

If you’re an emerging director eager to bring your first feature film to life, chances are you’ll start with a micro-budget project. These films are where most great directors cut their teeth — the ultimate crash course in resourcefulness, creativity, and endurance. In this hands-on webinar, you’ll dive deep into the essentials of directing micro-budget features — from defining your vision and visual style to mastering preparation, adaptability, and collaboration on set. You’ll learn how to break down your script, create an effective lookbook, build your shooting strategy, and work seamlessly with your cast and crew under tight timelines. Plus, you’ll receive a sample micro-budget call sheet, shot lists, and sides from one of Ted’s actual films. By the end, you’ll walk away knowing exactly how to approach your next feature with confidence, clarity, and a toolkit built for real-world filmmaking.

Will be amazing, and Ted is in good hands ;))

Hey, Ted! Good idea. Did you see my SETESH 2025 full feature on youtube? I directed it, wrote it. composed music for it, even acted in it as an extra. It is amazing what you can do with a little creativity. People want to get involved in projects. I got an antique store to provide period antiques, a restaurant to give bargain meals, and I found housing for cast and crew. I got a 1/2 million sq ft warehouse for a month for peanuts, and a motorcycle club to act and use their meeting place, and a farm for a day for cheap.

Found locations are great if visually unique. You don't need expensive CGI!

Find some great locations and write the script around them!

Hey, Jon! Congrats! I'll check it out. Yeah, that's a way toerd a career. Filmmaker urry Barker made a $800 found footage horror movie on youttube. He's next feature is backed by Blum House!
