FOR RELEASE: TUESDAY DECEMBER 16th 2025

OneCor Productions is pleased to announce the development of Just Us, a one-hour family dramedy inspired by the real-life Hughes family, 2024 winners of Family Feud.

The story follows Jace Hughes, a widowed father and tv sports producer, as he raises his five daughters in the suburbs following the sudden death of his wife. Through humor, heart, and faith, the series explores love, and loss through a modern Black family lens. Just Us blends comedy with emotional truth as each daughter comes into their own and the family learns to rebuild together. “Just Us is not a story about perfection, it’s a story about staying.” says creator and showrunner Junius R. Hughes, Jr. “It’s about showing up imperfectly with faith and honesty, for the people who need us the most.”

Hughes is no stranger to television. As a Quinnipiac University Alum and Ivy League educated, Junius was a pioneer voice in the early days of sports broadcasting, having helped major networks like CBS, ABC, and ESPN, break ground in the industry. “I have spent my whole life telling other people's stories,” says Hughes, “it’s time I finally told my own.”

Just Us is set in New Haven County, Connecticut with pre-production beginning in the new year. Principal photography is anticipated for Q3 2026.

Jaylene, how much of this is scripted?

Jaylene Wells

Hey Rutger, while the story is based on real people and real events, the series is 100% scripted

Rutger Oosterhoff

Hi Yaylene, If it is a 100% scripted but has an unscripted feel, that would be great, kudos!!
