I received a double recommend on my script a broken man a while ago. Then after some rigorous work I received a recommend for writer and a consider for script. The new reader made a lot of sense so I'll do another pass on it before I send it out so I can get another double recommend.
My question is: how good is it if you get a recommend for writer and consider for script?

It's a wonderful thing, John Metzner. It means you're on the right path for that script for a double on the next round. That's when it gets placed in the LookBook. Congratulations!

Getting a “recommend” as a writer and having your script marked as “consider” is actually a strong sign that you’re on the right track. In the coverage world, “consider” means your work stood out enough for someone to see real potential in either your writing or the project itself. It’s not a pass, and it’s not a generic compliment — it’s genuine encouragement from a reader who thinks your voice or your script is worth paying attention to.
A “recommend” for you as a writer is even more meaningful. That means the reader believes you have the talent, craft, and voice to be someone worth investing in, even beyond this one script. Those kinds of notes can open doors, spark conversations, and help build momentum.
So overall, it’s a very good sign. It means you’re doing something right, and people are noticing.

Maurice, I have another script for the period piece competition that I'm tweaking and hopefully get it in by the deadline. I think this one can win...
Hope you finish your script in time and it does great in the contest, John Metzner!

A "Recommend for Writer" is huge, it means they believe in you and your talent. The "Consider for Script" means your project is strong and almost there, it just needs that final polish in a spot or two. Your plan to do another pass using those notes is exactly right. You’re really close to that double recommend, try submitting to some execs who could be a right fit for you for consultation, t’s a fantastic way to transition from great notes to real industry conversations (https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/consulting).

Once you've read enough scripts you get a good feel for the person that wrote it, so the fact that your skill and ability is coming through in your work is great news!

Thanks Ewan and Sam. I spent the weekend figuring out how to tweak the script and come up with the fixes to bring it up a few more notches. Then I'll submit it for coverage once more so I can again get a double recommend.
Pat A. from stage 32 gave me some execs to submit to when ready but I want to make sure when I send it to them it's there.
It's a great low-budget family drama that will make money and wiin awards.
