Hello everyone! I’m a sketch comedy writer from Brighton, Michigan. I’ve graduated from The Second City Conservatory and The Sketch School. Recently, I launched my own comedy brand called Hot Cheap Comedy.
I would love a chance to connect with other comedy projects. I am also currently seeking representation to help my further my career as a writer. Looking forward to exploring Stage 32!

Whitney Young, one of our executives, met writer Mason Greer during his first Stage 32 pitch session. The project blew her away. They've had multiple development calls since, and now they're close to partnering.
Tomorrow night they're doing a Living Look Book / reading for the project in LA. The script won at the 2024 Austin Film Festival. The story follows three siblings who discover their deceased grandfather may have killed Malcolm X — it's about legacy, family, and how secrets destroy everything.
If you're in LA and want to support a Stage 32 writer whose work is moving forward:
X Marks the Spot — Living Look Book / Reading
Saturday evening
The Last Acting Studio, 1914 Raymond Avenue, Los Angeles, CA
Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/x-marks-the-spot-tickets-1982244301065
This is what happens when writers pitch the right executives and build real relationships. Congratulations to Mason and Whitney.

Hey Josh Gulban - so great to see you here! I love improv and sketch. I just saw a great show at Dad's Garage in Atlanta. Do you ever travel with your work? How's the improv scene in Michigan?

Yeah, that's fine, Josh Gulban. I just followed Hot Cheap Comedy on IG and YouTube. Thanks. I wrote a Horror script way back that takes place in Ann Arbor. I remembered it after reading your post.

Welcome to Stage 32, Josh! Your journey from The Second City Conservatory to launching Hot Cheap Comedy is impressive. I'm Shoaib, a playwright from Pakistan writing true-life emotional dramas — a different genre, but I admire the creativity and discipline comedy writing requires. Best of luck with your career and finding representation!

Hi Josh Gulban, welcome, and congrats on launching Hot Cheap Comedy. That’s a huge step. I’m Ashley, Head of Community here at Stage 32, and I’m so glad you’re here.
With your background at The Second City Conservatory and The Sketch School, you’re coming in with strong comedy foundations. I’d definitely encourage you to spend time in the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting) to connect with other writers developing pilots, features, and comedy-forward projects. The Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) is also a great space for you, especially with sketch and performance-driven work, since so many actors there are looking for strong comedic material and collaborators.
If you’re seeking representation and looking to level up strategically, the Writer’s Room can be a powerful resource. It’s an incredibly supportive environment with access to open writing assignments, professional feedback, and direct Zoom calls with working industry professionals. You can explore a free month here to see if it’s a fit: https://www.stage32.com/writers-room/plans-vip
I also want to echo Maurice’s suggestion that you join my FREE February Community Open House next week. I’ll be walking through how to navigate Stage 32 strategically, build meaningful connections, and position yourself as you pursue representation and collaborations:

Shoaib Rehman Thank you, I appreciate it! I look forward to seeing some of your content as well.
Sam Sokolow That’s sound fun. I haven’t traveled at all myself, I’ve been focusing on filming content. There is a pretty strong Improv scene in Metro Detroit that I check out some. Pretty high quality performers too.
