Emerging Screenwriters Comedy Screenplay Competition

Happy to share that two of my half-hour comedy pilots were just named Quarterfinalists in the 2026 Emerging Screenwriters Comedy Screenplay Competition!

The Essential Male:

With retirement looming, an old school “man’s man” looks to hand over his lifestyle company to secure his legacy. When his impulsive son gets overlooked in favor of a new woman CE-Bro, he plots a coup to take over the company and prove he’s the right man for the job.

Success Story:

Twenty years after being voted Most Likely to Succeed, an underachiever concocts a success story to tell at his high school reunion, but finds himself forced to maintain the illusion of success long after the reunion’s end.

Vikki Harris Thank you!

Eric McKeever

Congrats!

Xochi Blymyer

Congratulations!

Wade Taylor

Look at you go! Congrats!

Abhijeet Aade

Mike O'Neill Congratulations that’s a great achievement, especially with two projects recognized.

Both concepts sound really strong. The Essential Male feels timely with that generational and identity clash, and Success Story has a very relatable, character-driven premise with a lot of comedic potential.

Best of luck as they move forward in the competition excited to see how they progress.
